Sensors triggered for no reason
My wife and I were at work and around 5:11am I got a notification that some of our sensors we triggered. Someone called to make sure everything was fine and they sent someone out to check on everything. We are very confused with what happened! The motion sensor in our living room was triggered first and three minutes later the entry sensor on the kitchen window was triggered. We aren't sure how that is possible. That would mean someone would have to be in the house already and then open the window after walking by the motion sensor. We have two cats but they've never triggered the motion sensors before. Once we got home and saw that everything looked normal and all the sensors were still in tact I called SimpliSafe to ask if they know what could have happened. Two different people told me they've never seen that happen and they made it sound like it wasn't possible for that to happen. I just wondered if anyone else has ever seems this before and if anyone has an explanation. It's kinda creepy.

Just had 2 of my motion sensors go off at the same time, they are on different levels of the house so this would have been difficult for an actual event to cause. Never got a call from the company so I’m currently wondering what I’m paying them for. Will be calling them in the morning to find out more.

In the last 48 hours after the original issues I have had two more entry sensors twice each become non responsive and then later became responsive. SS has decided to send me a new base station. Something is just not right with my existing system.

Today I had a front door entry sensor and motion sensor trigger. However, nothing could have or should have triggered them. And there's no evidence that anyone entered. Plus, no animals, no direct sunlight, no heat/cooling. Weird.

I have also received two false alarms in the last three months (6/2022 and 9/2022) from two different motion detectors on two different alarm systems. The sensors are located out of direct sun light, there are no pets, and no heat registers nearby. SimpliSafe gave the advice to lower the sensitivity to low (from existing medium). SimpliSafe rep also asked if there were any thunderstorms implying that could set off the motion sensor. How can a device as stated on the web page that "Detects unique heat signature of people" be confused by thunderstorms? SimpliSafe rep also stated was making note in my file and if I had another motion detector false alarm would "see about getting me some replacements".
As I re-read this thread it is beginning to look like there is a problem with the SimpliSafe motion sensors.

This just happened to us last night. We have motion sensors and cameras in our main living room and hallway and a 6lb dog who hasn’t set anything off ever. And both the hallway and living room set the alarm off at the same time, we’re in the same boat where no other doors/windows/entry sensors went off. We watched the cameras before disabling the alarm but had the authorities go out and walk around to make sure as we were unable to get home quickly. Came here to see if anyone else had this type of experience or if they’ve ever had a Simplisafe glitch that scared the crap out of them..

We just had this happen within the last hour. Definitely scary since we’re out of town. Hallway motion sensor followed by the sunroom and front door. We saw nothing on our exterior cameras,(non SimpliSafe), with the only activity coming from the police checking our home. We were notified by the SimpliSafe base station of a power outage a few hours ago and we installed 4 new sensors last Friday, but the only new sensor to report an issue was the motion sensor.

Same thing happened with us tonight, brand new system and our dog tripped the motion sensor in our living room. Saw it was him and turned off the alarm. Then 4 minutes later the entry sensor for our door downstairs triggered. The door was locked and deadbolted and no signs of any activity or forced entry in the house. I think this is a bug they need to fix

Multiple sensors spontaneously going off weeks ago caused us to unplug the bay station and remove the batteries due to a key fob. We have had these problem for months before this Tonight, my wife hooked everything up and asked a tech to put the system in test and tested the smoke detectors. 20 minutes later the fire department was here with a ladder truck not at all very happy. We disarmed the system and then at 1am a motion detector and smoke detector immediately triggered an alarm out of nowhere even though the system wasn’t armed. This is the first time we’ve even plugged in our system in months due to false alarms when the system isn’t even armed and techs have no idea what’s going on. Tonight is absolutely the last straw. We’ve had simplisafe for 7 years and won’t look back. We are cancelling our service after we get back from vacation we are leaving for tomorrow. And we are NOT arming our system while away (the bay station is in a heap with no plug or batteries). Best of luck all.

A "pocket dial" of the panic alarm on a keyfob resulted in reports that several unrelated sensors had triggered. I suspect RF interference.

We had the same problem just 2 nights ago. An inside motion sensor was triggered at 3:45am and a minute later, an entry sensor triggered. I was not home so half asleep and in a panic, we had the police dispatched. What didn’t make sense is this:
1) the motion sensor triggered before anything else
2) our front door is a combo of storm door + regular exterior door (equalling TWO doors) and you have to open both to get inside. Only one entry sensor was triggered
3) no movement was recorded on our front doorbell camera. The only recordings were those that start if an alarm is triggered
We made it home and everything was locked up tight and aligns with the police’s suggestion that there was no intrusion. I’ve read the other posts and can confirm it was not heat, lightning, animals, or air ducts that could have caused this because none of those things apply to our situation. It was pitch dark, no storm or wind, and our heat and AC are both off.
The only thing new with our system (which we’ve had for 10 months) is that I added 2 inside motion sensors about a month ago.
I thought we would be safe with Simplisafe but I’m feeling less trusting the more comments and responses I see here.

Just for the sake of making sure that we all document that there seems to be an issue with the motion sensors.
The other evening 09/02/2023 @ 6:45pm Living room motion sensor went off for no reason. Cameras show nothing. No heat, it is summer time. There was no storms in the area the entire weekend.
The same day at 6:49pm a door sensor went off from the garage to the house...
Police Dispatched - nothing
Disarmed the system and rearmed it
Then at 10:44pm that same night the Living room motion sensor went off and at 10:45pm the Front Door Motion Sensor went off.
Got called by SS and was sent to Support, the first question was can you go to the base station and get the serial number for them.... I wasn't in the same freaking state. I knew at at that time, this was going nowhere.
Still don't know what caused it... but now I don't trust the entire system...
Based on the reading I have been doing, nobody know what causes it and that is disappointing....
