Recycle after upgrade to Gen 3?
I received an offer to upgrade my system to Gen 3. Since to do the upgrade I have to replace the base station and all of the sensors, is there a program to recycle old system?

Hi @wrat ,
We did in the past used to have a trade-in process, where you'd send your legacy hardware back to us for refurbishing. But that is no longer active.
I would suggest looking up electronics recycling centers in your area as the most eco-friendly option. Or alternately, you can re-use the hardware as a second, local-only (unmonitored) system at a different location.

Thank you for the quick response.
I've decided to not upgrade. I will keep using my Gen 2 and hope Simplisafe brings back the trade-in program.

@wrat I don't want to discourage you from upgrading. The Gen 3 SimpliSafe was redesigned from the ground up, with sleeker, more efficient sensors, an a smarter Base Station and Keypad that can be updated with new features. And of course, we still have that upgrade offer that can get you at least 50% off on the new system.

Just want to make sure I haven't missed anything. My Gen 2 system is no longer connected to my account once I upgrade to Gen 3, correct? So no security concerns with having someone else reuse it as an offline system or handing it off to a recycling center? Thanks.

Get the gen 3 trust me you will love it and with all the firmware updates you get it's just amazing.
