How long do entry battery last

I just got a new system in July (used to have their 1st or 2nd generation purchased in 2014).  Anyway I wondered how long these entry sensors last, believe in a CR2032 3V battery.   Do you get any warning, or do they just stop working or maybe they say that the door or window is open?  Either I lost the documentation on them or there wasn't any.  If there is some documentation could you point me to where it's at.  I have the tiny smoke/CO2 manual, but no alarm, entry sensor, keypad manual.  I figured it all out and everything test fine, but would like to know more if it's available.

Hi @diverjer,

The Entry Sensor does take a CR-2023 battery, and it has a life expectancy of up to 5 years; but as Captain11 mentioned, this all depends on usage. If an Entry Sensor is constantly being opened every day, its battery may get low faster.

When one of your devices has a low battery, you will see a message on the Overview screen of the SimpliSafe mobile app and your Keypad.

And manuals for all of our devices can be found on our website.

@diverjer Short answer "it depends on amount of use" but I have entry sensors on 3+ years, but I schedule replacement on my own at 4 years for peace of mind. Note, keypads and external siren is about 6-7 months in my experience.

I have a glass break sensor that is killing a battery about every month.
My other glass break sensors are normal.
Why would that be happening?

If there is a weak connection between the senor and the base that can effect the battery.  Also the sensor can be defective.   My glass break sensors have batteries that have lasted over two years.

You may also want to switch the two sensors to confirm the performance of the one unit.

Finally call support and get assistance to troubleshoot.  My bet is a weak signal or defective unit

Please post your outcome here if you get a chance.

@nwienbergen I agree with Captain11! How far away is this Glassbreak Sensor from the Base Station? Are there any dense walls or appliances between the two devices? If there is a lot of interference between the two devices, that can cause the Glassbreak Sensor to work harder to maintain a connection to the Base Station - causing its battery to deplete faster.

If you have multiple Glassbreak Sensors, try swapping the two to see if this behavior continues. If this sensor's battery continues to drain even in its new location, that may indicate an issue with the device itself. In that case, our Support team can help you with a replacement.
