Cell Signal Booster?

I have my system in a rural location with limited cell service. My unit came with a T-Mobile module and since Verizon is the only carrier that provides signal in my area, I swapped out the module for a Verizon one. My signal is still too weak to allow the base station to communicate with my phone app or the monitoring service. I signed up for the $24.99 service.

I'm looking at getting a cell booster of some type with an outside antenna so my base station will get a better signal. Has anybody tried this and, if so, what setup did you go with? Thanks.

Well, after much searching, I've found that many others are having this issue and there's a compatibility issue with 4G/LTE boosters and the SS base station. Has anybody else had any success with older 3G cell booster/antennas and if so, which brand and model? Thanks.

As it turns out, I had cell signal all along. I finally got customer service on the phone (they were very polite and helpful) and apparently, when I installed the Verizon module, something on their end was not recognizing the new module as part of my system. They fixed it while I was on the phone and now all is well. Thanks, SS!

Update: My connection to dispatch has now become intermittent, even with my Verizon module.

I want to install a cell signal booster/antenna but have read numerous threads about how the newer 4G  boosters won't work with the Simplisafe base station.

Question: Will the boosters that claim to be compatible with 2G, 3G AND 4G work? This issue has been going on for numerous users for a couple of years now. Has ANYBODY at Simplisafe come up with a DEFINITIVE  answer to this question yet???

Again, anybody? SIMPLISAFE??? Anybody HOME?

Has ANYBODY at Simplisafe come up with a DEFINITIVE answer to this question yet??? Also, what Verizon band and frequency does the base station operate off of? I NEED to get a compatible cell signal booster.

you might get faster results by calling SS.  If the person who answers doesn't know, ask for a supervisor

@jjkendy  - hi
I also live in an area with crappy cell signal. I have had a Samsung Cell Booster hooked to my broadband for years...it does NOT connect at 3G or 4G, only at 1x. I am not 100% certain about the latest model, but i acutally disconnected mine when I got the SS3 system w/Verizon card. It's still weak signal according to tech support, but it will dial out and the Samsung booster won't confuse it. I have 2 bars pretty much anywhere in the house.
Not good, but enough to dial out if WiFi goes down and a call needs to be placed.
Anyway, unless you get a VERY expensive and tech-installed Cell booster system w/outdoor antenna, you're pretty much wasting time in my opinion.
Good luck!

moreyag, thanks for the reply. I don't have broadband or a land line at my location, so an actual cell booster with outside antenna is what I'm looking to buy. I just don't want to spend the significant amount of money required on a booster system until I know what works and what doesn't.

I used the email contact form and got the same old canned response that keeps popping up on google. Basically, "a booster may or may not help and we can't recommend one". I ONLY want SPECIFIC FREQUENCY INFORMATION on what the base station uses for a cell signal. All I got from "tech support" was that my Verizon module in my base station uses 2G. Sooooo..... if I get a cell booster that is 2G compatible, it SHOULD work, right? I don't know. It seems that SOMEBODY at SS should be able to answer this yes-or-no question. Ooooor..... if it's more complicated than that, EXPLAIN the technical aspects of what must be done to insure a COMPATIBLE boosted signal for the system to operate off of. "It may or may not work" is an unacceptable answer from the MANUFACTURER of this system!!!

@jjkendy We have the same issue and after spending hours on the phone with tech support they still do not have any answers to this problem. Did you find an antenna system that connects to the cellular system?
