What upload speed do you get? The quality would probably be pretty low if your upload is under 1Mbps. If you own a simplisafe system, are you using a landline for monitoring or do you have t mobile/verizon coverage? Might be worth getting home internet service through them instead, you can get pretty fast speeds if 4G is in your area.

The SimpliCam requires a level of communication that your satellite internet might not be able to provide. Because of this, we recommend operating the SimpliCam on wifi!

I have ViaSat ( formerly Exede). My upload speed is usually 3MBps. But still couldn't get camera to ever recognize or connect. Finally was told by cust. support that it doesn't work with sattelite internet.  At least I am getting a refund for my camera. Dissapointed tho that this info wasn't plainly stated somewhere before I purchased it. Sattelite is my only internet option where I live. ‚òπÔ∏è

Satellite introduces a lot of latency (the time it takes for data to reach point a to point b) because its travelling to space and back.  Some things just wont work reliably with it.  Are you sure you have no other options?  Search your area for "WISP", wireless ISP.  Most towns likely have one and they can reach customers that cable, dsl, and fiber cannot.  These are usually smaller companies that will bend over backwards to get new customers.

Don't even bother buying them, we also have ViaSat with average upload speed of around 3MBps or more.  The cameras were recognized but couldn't get them connected (yellow blinking). Satellite is the only internet option where we live and it works pretty good even when used with interactive video games and video streaming.  Disappointing that this info was not plainly stated in the product specifications.  Finally was told by 'customer service'  that it doesn't work with satellite internet, btw customer service was terrible, rude and unhelpful, it changed our perception of this company.

I have hughesnet and the upload speed is less than 1mbs and sometimes the camera works and sometimes it doesn't. I have 2 cameras but the second one will not connect to internet so I'm just using the one. I have no other option than satellite internet. I wish the camera could connect over 5ghz because the upload is faster. Can there be an update that makes the camera able to take and send pictures through the app? Pictures would upload a lot easier than video.

5ghz does not by nature have better upload than 2.4ghz.  If your upload is 1 meg either band can easily handle that.

I do agree, that a picture option would be a good one for people in this situation.

For some reason when I connect to my hughesnet router on 2ghz upload is less than 1mbs and sometimes as low as 0. Connecting to the same hughesnet router on 5ghz I get 3-4mbs upload. Big difference. I don't know if I can change something with my router so I get better upload on 2ghz.
