tamper proof bracket or device for video doorbell

Does anyone know if SimpliSafe has made or will make a tamperproof device to protect their video doorbell?  The way its designed right now, anyone can just take it off the bracket and walk away with it.   I'm not too thrilled with that particular outcome.  it's not cheap.

Hi williams.cynthia76,

Your Video Doorbell Pro should actually come with such a bracket. You screw the bracket into your wall - while also fixing it to the doorbell circuit. Then you mount the camera unit into it, screwing that into place. We even used a t5 torx screw, a very uncommon shape to make it just that extra convenient for would-be thieves!

Check out Box #8 in the Video Doorbell Pro manual, which you can find here, for an illustration.

If someone were to steal the doorbell camera, would it even be usable?  I'm guessing here, but I suspect that SS could just deactivate it and it would be useless to someone.

mdolfan, that's also a great point. In fact, your camera is bound to your account, and would be completely unusable by anyone else. Though of course you'd be out a camera.

If that ever happens though, let us know and we'd just send a replacement.

Would it really be "unusable"?  Could they not define it to a different SS account?  If not, how does it work if I buy a camera from Best buy?  Or used from someone?

@sevensiamesecats,

When you set up your camera (using the SimpliSafe app, of course), the camera's unique serial number is tagged to your account. Until you decide to delete the camera from your account, it'll be attached. The server will then refuse to connect the camera to any other account.
