Screw Size For Outdoor Camera Mount?

I looked on-line and can't find what size screw the Outdoor Camera uses for the non magnet mount. Is it 1/4" or something else?

Also if this info is on-line, please point me to it. If it's not, please add it somewhere on the product description or full specification page. Thanks!

This doesn't mention the camera specifically and I do not have a SS3 system with camera mount to compare, but might be a starting point.

Hi Worthing,

You're asking about the Permanent Mount? Since that accessory is yet to be released, we're not yet able to give further info about it.

Hi Johnny M,

There is a threaded hole on the bottom of the Outdoor Camera. I'm sure someone at SS can tell me the specs on those threads. :)

Hi Worthing,

Ah yes, good spotting! That's actually a head mount (I believe that would be a 1/4-20 screw?), compatible with most camera tripods and similar accessories.

@davey_d  the small threaded mounting set screw at the bottom of the doorbell camera housing unscrews easily with a T4x50mm torx wrench.

@david_wheeler the Torx screwdriver that we include with the Video Doorbell Pro is T5, so you're close!

Though Worthing was asking about the Outdoor Camera, which has a threaded hole on the bottom for mounting.

Just want to ask, why would someone need the "permanent mount"?  The standard magnetic mount that comes with the camera seems pretty substational in holding power as is, and infact, has withstood a large thunderstorm that rolled through with wind gusts of 40-50 mph.

Hi Captain,

It's really just another option. Some folks like the idea of the camera being harder to grab, especially if they can't install it high enough to be out of reach.

Nice to have options I guess, but mounted low enough to grab seems to defeat the purpose. Like chicken soup, I guess it can't hurt.

@Captain11  Actually, after speaking with someone working in law enforcement, having a camera lower is more likely to get a view of a person's face.  A thief can wear a hat to block their face from high mounted cameras and it wouldn't look out of place if they are walking down the street.  They know not to look up, so having one mounted lower might be a good idea.  Just keep it hidden.
