Outside POE Camera?
I have pre-wired Ethernet locations for 3 out door cams.
I've noticed Simplisafe does not sell an outdoor camera.
The sleeve + 25ft power cable is silly and defeats my investment in pre-wired locations.
My questions:
In the (hopefully near) future:
1- will Simplisafe ever come out with an outdoor camera?
2- will it be POE enabled to avoid wireless range issues?
3- would/will it be possible to use a 3rd party POE cam with the simplisafe app?

2. Again, who knows. SS probably won't say. Myself I find it doubtful. A big point of SS is that it's wireless and easy for (almost) anyone to plug and play. PoE ain't that hard (I presently have several PoE cams comprising a separate system above and beyond SS and three SS cams) but it's definitely WAY beyond SS in terms of setup complexity, running cables, etc.
3. Who knows what the future holds but I doubt it. Everything suggests they like to keep the system proprietary. I have yet to find a way to use the SS cams with any other system, and I'd expect the converse to be true if it ever came be.

We do have an outdoor SimpliCam currently in development. We are not yet able to talk about what features it will have or how it will work. Certainly, your feedback on what features you'd like it to have will help. Our engineers do pay close attention! We'll let you know when the new models are finally ready.

Researching outdoor cams for a year now I'm about to run Cat6 in anticipation of a Poe to NVR setup.
I have the wiring ready to be run but have not pulled the trigger on the cameras however I'm 98% certain of a brand.
Early on I Looked hard at Arlo before realizing Poe potential.
To be completely honest the fact that my SS3 doorbell is hard-wired has led me to Poe.
Having a cord hanging off of a outdoor camera device is not practical or is relying solely on batteries. IMHO.
Arlo's reviews are mixed to poor especially when it involves their latest offering. Including the fact that if you can reach the camera you can pluck it off it's magnetic base and walk away with it.

I've been very pleased with Dahua PoE cameras. I've had several of them installed for a while now and a few more I'm adding. They've survived outdoors rain and shine, hot and cold; no problems at all.

We were told the indoor cameras would convert to outdoor cameras by putting a sleeve over the camera, which they sold us, and that it would work in a new home that was being built, using the cat6 line (POE). However, it is not working and we have spent lots of extra time & money to get it to work, after talking with them several times and them telling us, you just need "this". I am not happy with the way things have turned out. Sure, the wireless outdoor camera looks like a good idea, but I have already paid for the wiring!

I have 51 SS devices. It works well for interior security AFTER a security breech attempt. I need external POE NVR cameras that are available to watch 24/7 on a separate monitor and remotely to see what’s going on BEFORE the breech attempt. I think I’m going to dump all my battery WiFi exterior cameras and find something else. Ron W.

Hey SimpliSafe, any update on a PoE camera? Your WiFi cameras suck and drop video all the time, even when they are close to the WiFi access point. You are going to lose us as customers and references without a PoE camera and doorbell option.
