In Off mode, can I have the camera send motion push notifications?

I currently have the camera set to have the privacy shutter off during OFF mode. When I checked the camera after changing the setting, the privacy shutter is still closed. I need to be able to get push notifications from this camera while I'm in the house and the system is in the OFF mode. Can someone help me with the proper settings in order to be able to do this? Much appreciated!

Hi @Glen_Cove_5511,

In your camera's settings in the SimpliSafe mobile app, you should see the option to keep your Privacy Shutter open while in Off Mode. If you turn that setting on, you will receive push notifications when your SimpliCam detects motion while your system is off.

@emily_s This setting doesn't work for me unless I'm actively viewing the camera live. I would prefer the camera to be "watching" the area and alerting for motion.

@Glen_Cove_5511 if your Privacy Shutter is open even while your system is in Off Mode, your SimpliCam should be recording motion events and sending push notifications when it detects motion, even when you aren't viewing a live stream.

I would re-do the setting in your SimpliSafe app for your camera. To do this, you can go to Camera Settings > [your camera] > Privacy Shutter and then set the Shutter to be Closed in Off Mode. Go back one screen and tap Save. Then, go into Privacy Shutter again, set it to be Open in Off Mode, and go back one screen again and tap Save.

If that doesn't work, a firmware reset might help. You can do that by pressing the button on the top of the camera for 16 seconds, and when you release, the camera will reboot and you can set it up in the app again.

I want the shutter open in OFF mode so it can see motion and send alerts.

@Glen_Cove_5511 correct, I understand that your Privacy Shutter was set to be open in Off Mode, but you weren't receiving push notifications for motion, which is not how the SimpliCam should react. So toggling the settings for your Privacy Shutter in the app by setting it to closed while in Off Mode and then back to open should hopefully get your SimpliCam to send you motion notifications when your system is off.
