doorbell wedge

Do you sale the doorbell wedges to turn the camera from right to left (or left to right)?  Where can I order it?  Are there any other doorbell accessories for sale?  Or coming soon for sale?
I also read there is a kit to convert the indoor camera to an outdoor camera?  Where can I order it?  I'd like more info but don't see anything on the website.

I read recently you need to call and ask for the camera skin to make it outdoor worthy.  Probably same for any door bell accessories.

I called.  No wedges to move camera left to right available.  Hopefully in the future.

@LRS

That's right, we don't have a wedge available at this time. But we'll let you know if we launch in the future.

Hello,

Can you please put a request into the proper department that doorbell wedges that allow you to angle your doorbell camera left or right are needed. Since Simplisafe could be considered the last company to offer a doorbell it's hard to believe this is not offered though your top competitors either include it or sell it separately.

thank you,

TR

We just installed our SS doorbell and are disappointed in the usable view since you do not offer a wedge adapter that allows us to reposition the camera to the left or right, such as is the case with Ring and Nest. 50% of our view to the left is all front door, leaving the other 50% to see nothing but the person's profile when they are standing right in front of the door. We have zero view of the approach.  This can't be a difficult piece to make since other people are trying to adapt the Nest wedge or to build their own... but for most of us, we bought the wrong doorbell since it is so much less functional than the Nest or Ring. I like it otherwise, but without a commitment that SS will be offering a wedge in the near term to fix the design problem, this needs to be returned as it is not very functional.

We're talking about a plastic wedge here. A piece of plastic to angle the doorbell left or right. How was this overlooked, and how is it that it would take so long? Oh, the factory in china produced 850k units and we have to sell them all first? Bull. Make a wedge and stick them in the boxes. Send them upon request, or whatever. 5° wedges that can be stacked 2 or 3 to get a nice angle. Silly your customers would have to ask for this. Why develop a wedge for vertical angle and NOT think of the horizontal angles which are WAY more important in many installation situations.

Insane product development oversight! How can something so obviously useful and needed by many to complete the installation (and ridiculously inexpensive to include) not occur to anyone at SimpliSafe?

When discussing an up and down wedge, not on thought about left and right?!?

@ jeremygary , with such a wide angle lens I didn't need one.

"....if we launch in the future".  In other words, people have to jury-rig another simplisafe component in order for it to be useful.

Captain, Jeremy has a point:  my doorbell is on the north-side exterior wall from my west-side-facing door - meaning, the camera view would be 1/3 of my door, 1/3 the south-side exterior wall, and 1/3 a west-side view of my front walkway. In my case, it would require jury-rigging and having to build a small wedge and affixing it so that it would be aesthetic and weather-protective without looking like a clumsy boxy what-the-hell is that thing on the wall thingy.

I made a 30 degree wedge mount from a piece of 3" x 3" x 6" Red Oak. You may want to have a look at the wedge mount linked below for the Nest video doorbell although it is a bit pricey. I think it will work fine as it has a solid mount surface and the dimensions of the Nest and SimpliSafe doorbells are quite similar.

SimpliSafe Video Doorbell
4.35 x 1.35 x 1.12 inches

Nest Video Doorbell
4.60 x 1.70 x 1.00 inches

@coltmaster1, I agree, given your config, a curved wedge would be called for.

@.dave_2036, nice solution but I'm not that handy and, yes, yikes, at 34.95 for a Nest mount is expensive.  Possibly SS can come out with their version, cost them about 34 cents to make and they can sell it for 3.49!

I ordered this for $15

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DDBQD69/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Worked great, just had to drill an extra hole to get it to mount properly
Hi esachs4, did you have to drill an extra hole to mount the simplisafe doorbell to the plate or did you have to drill an extra hole to mount the wall plate? Do you happen to have a photo? My husband is not very handy so photos will help us figure this out.

Thanks!

dave and esachs, thanks for the links, they will be great solutions for a ton of people.

That said, for me anyway, most of the wedge types I've seen tend to make the doorbell and attached wedge/bracket even tackier :)

I think I will just twiddle my thumbs until SS comes out with the outdoor cameras, watch the forum team test them, and make my decision after the bugs have been worked out!

The main problem with most of the aftermarket options out there seems to be that they compromise security. Many are hinged plastic, which could easy be ripped off at the hinge. Other fixed-position wedges have model-specific mounting holes for the camera that may not line up exactly with the SimpliSafe doorbell camera.

Still yet to find something aftermarket that checks both boxes.

I am not wanting anyone to steal or destroy my doorbell camera; however, I suspect it could be removed/destroyed relatively easily since it is plastic.

I just found someone who designed on to be 3D printed. Doesn't look perfect, but seems secure and looks like it works. At least until SS gets their act together and makes one.

The website clearly  states that there are wedges for setup on shingles and corners. Are you all saying this marketing is untrue? I haven't purchased the doorbell yet..

It appears they are selling the doorbell camera at bestbuy with three different colored covers and a mounting wedge of some sort. It appears people that are buying this directly from SimpliSafe do not get that included. Is this a correct understanding? I am looking into purchasing this doorbell camera but obviously would purchase from BestBuy if this is correct.
