disappointed with my outdoor camera

I'm pretty disappointed with my outdoor camera (new model).  The motion sensing sensitivity has tanked.  I'm lucky if it catches someone 10ft from the camera coming up the stairs to the porch.  It used to capture cars in the driveway, people coming and going, etc.  I'm going to end up building my own camera system (Wifi, DVR, cloud storage, etc.) and ditching the Simplisafe cams altogether.

Thanks for the feedback. We'd love to hear more about your setup so we can help figure out what has gone wrong. For example:

  • Has anything changed since you first set it up? e.g. have you changed the angle of the camera
  • How about the things within view of the camera? i.e. have you moved furniture or objects around, etc.
  • Do you have People Only enabled? Do you use Motion Zones?
  • Is your camera connected to power (Power Adapter or Solar Panel)?
  • Do you have a good connection to your WiFi router?
