Connection Strength test on iPhone app

This Connection Strength Test on the app for cameras fails to work. I get a screen that comes up and says “Something went wrong” Please try again later. Once you get that screen there is no way of exiting unless you close out and restart the app. I know this may sound minor but to me any little bugs in a home security system are always a cause for concern and diminishes my confidence in the protection the system provides.

I am experiencing the same problem.  Used to be able to run the test.

Hi @Mscalia and @deckhardt ,

Do you both have iPhones? There's a known issue with the iPhone version of the SimpliSafe app that is exactly what you're describing. Our dev team identified the cause quickly and the update fix is coming to your phone soon!

@davey_d How soon?   Move the camera closer, or the router, or the extender - connectivity is a huge problem with the simplisafe system.   Not having a way to check the camera/router signal strength on my iPhone is a serious drawback to "set-up your system in minutes - we're to help"

@whitewater @deckhardt

It's hard to say with iOS updates because there's a review process on Apple's end as well. But I do know that a new update had been recently submitted, and the Connection Check fix might be in that one. Keep an eye out for it!

Likewise.  The outdoor camera never has run the test even when sitting beside the router.  The doorbell camera now won't run the test whereas before it did.  Oh, I see it's associated with the iPhone.  OK.  There's been upgrades and there are always issues when Apple upgrades their junk.

I long for days past of the warm glow of vacuum tubes, three maybe four TV channels, American Bandstand and much simpler lifestyles.

@dfarrich just to clarify, the Connection Check should be available on all platforms for the Video Doorbell Pro, and the SimpliCam Indoor Camera.

But the feature is not yet available for the Outdoor Camera. That's still on the way.

Ah hah!  Apple-related.  I'll await the upgrade.  Thanks.

iOS15.4.1 just came out - anyone try the update to see if the connection strength part of the app is working?

@whitewater to clarify, the update we're talking about is for the SimpliSafe app, not your whole operating system.

Incidentally, an update did actually go out today, and part of it restores the Connection Check function for the Video Doorbell Pro and the SimpliCam Indoor Camera.

Yes.  I just ran it on the doorbell camera and indoor Simplicam camera.  The outdoor camera does not have the option.

May have been a local issue here but after I ran the connection strength test on the SimpliCam, I had to restart it (power cycle) because it would neither disconnect, connect nor display live.  Reran tests and live view and OK now.
