Camera Motion Detection

I have a camera that is detecting motion every few minutes when there is no motion in the room. What would be causing this?

Hi @kyle_goldstein,

Do you know what your SimpliCam's motion sensitivity is set to? It may be detecting minuscule movement in the room. We detail how you can adjust the motion detection of your cameras here in our Help Center.

I have moved it to low and still does it. I swapped cameras with one from another area and it does the same thing in that area

I moved that camera to a third area and it still does it. I’m guessing something is wrong with that camera?

What version of camera software is the camera on?  If it is not current, might want to call support and ask for a replacement camera?

@kyle_goldstein ,

If we have this right, you have at least two cameras. And now both of them are showing this behavior?

Our Cameras use infrared for motion detection - that is, they're looking for sources of heat that are moving around. Is that camera pointed towards a heat-generating object? It could be anything, from humans and animals, to appliances, or even heating ducts and radiators.

It might also help to reset the firmware on your cameras. On the Indoor Camera, you just need to press the button on top for 16 seconds. When you release, it should reboot into Setup Mode, and you can set it up through the SimpliSafe app again.

Installed a new camera and it stopped but I still have the issue with all the cameras and the clicking background noise with all the cameras. Was there ever a resolution with this issue?

@kyle_goldstein Our engineers have isolated the cause of the issue, but the solution is still in progress. Once we hear from them, an update will be provided in this thread.
