Voice Prompts using Alexa and Google

I see many people cannot hear the Voice Prompts or Announcements if they are in another room from the Base. Why can't SS have Amazon Alexa and Google also announce all System Status and Entry Sensor Alerts thru the Alexa and Google units.

Hi @rrjak, 

SimpliSafe uses its own closed system that we are currently focused on. We do have some integrations with Alexa and Google that allow you to arm you system, but we are also conscious of finding a balance that still keeps our system locked down. 

We do offer a Wireless Siren that sounds when an alarm is triggered and when an Entry Sensor is opened. This can be placed throughout your home where you may not be able to hear your Base Station.

@emily_s​ however the wireless sirens will not do voice alerts through it, only the chirps. Would be nice to hear what entry sensor was opened when it happens like other security companies offer. Not being able to hear the voice alerts in another room or another floor of your house makes me feel very uprotected.

100% agreed.  SS is not satisfying the needs of many users (customers) because of this gap in the functionality of the system.

Here to ask the same thing. I can only hear the base station when I am on the same floor as it.

This. Hearing chimes, announcements only when in same space as base station defeats the purpose. Need a second speaker or station to extend the sound coverage.

Agreed on the need for speaker that can be placed in more remote areas of the home so that the verbal base station announcements can be heard.

Alexa would be a good workaround for this if possible or SS would have to update the accessory siren or build a completely new speaker device.

This is important and I have seen several active threads about this topic.

It’s very disappointing that this topic has been literally discussed in numerous threads on this forum but still no official affirmative response from SimpliSafe.   

I consider this a must have feature, not a nice-to-have feature.   I’m very sure other customers feel the same way based on all the threads on the forum.
