iOS App Keeps Logging Us Off regularly

Our SimpliSafe app for our iPhones keeps logging us off at the most random times. Is there a fix to this? We have to keep logging in and getting the two factor code we set up.

I am also having this issue. I have to log in every day. Some times it goes 2-4 days and then needs logged in. I even check the remember me for 30 days. iPhone 12 with ios 15.6.1. No vpn.

on a side note, it would be very very nice if you enabled face id. I can log into my banks and investment accounts easier than I can my alarm system. That is ridiculous!

Hi folks,

One more quick update regarding this issue. Those of you checking in over just the past month or so are part of a recent spike in forced logouts, which our engineering team is aware of and has been actively tracking. We're getting closer to a solution, but it's still in progress.

My app logged me out 6 times today even after I uninstalled and reinstalled it. My alarm went off the other day and I couldn’t log in to see what was going on while I was out. This is ridiculous.

I've been having this issue since I got Simplisafe about a year ago. It's so frustrating. If someone broke into my house, I wouldn't even know unless I happen to open the app and log in, since im not getting notifications when the app is signed out. A pretty bad flaw for a home security system. Reading all of these replies from the last few months and seeing the same SS tech responses (what device and software, or we are investigating) is so frustrating because they've been saying the same thing for at least a year with no solution. They obviously don't care. I think it's time to try a new company.

@abarolin04 it even prompted me to log in again just to post this... 🙄

Hi @abarolin04

We've seen spike in these reports only more recently, indicating a different issue. But yes, our dev teams continue to work on a solution. Though logging into the Community would be a separate issue since it's on the web, versus logging into the app.

Do you have Multi-Factor authentication via SMS enabled? The issue is with the security key not being held by your device as long as it should. Multi-Factor Authentication holds onto that key longer, and you shouldn't need to log in more than once every 30 days.

You can enable Multi-Factor Authentication through the SimpliSafe app, under Menu > Manage Account > Multi-Factor Authentication.

10-6-22 - Having the same issue as everyone else, so I came here to research.  Disappointed to see all the posts and replies so far back with no resolution to date that I can see.  There are times when I've needed to view my camera quickly, but having to log back into the app kept me from getting to the live feed in time before the person was gone.  This is HORRIBLE for a security system.  If you can't rely on it, then there's no use in having it.  Has anyone switched and gone with another company?  Any recommendations?

@tinapittser this is pretty much where I’m at.

No response to this? I'm having the same issue and it's annoying

So, I don't know if it is just me, but what happened to all the comments that were initially made for this issue?  Were previous comments erased when the community support page moved, apparently, to this new one?

The page itself says 34 (which seems a bit low from what I recall there being on this) but you can't click to see them, and I only see 1 comment listed (well 2 now... :) ).

@mdubuya My post here might actually be related to your post now that I think about it, as you are wondering if there hasn't been a response to this.  There has been responses from lots of other users with the same issue (including me), and some smatterings of replies from SS staff.  I don't know at what point SS is in getting this issue fixed, however.

@CMart It's unfortunately not just you. There's an issue with the website right now where old replies are not displaying correctly. But the replies are still there - and we haven't forgotten you all!

More importantly, I see you saw my last pinned update on this issue. I can't promise when the next iOS app update will be live, but it's very soon.

Zero progress. I’ve spent enough time on the phone with them to safely say this isn’t getting resolved. They say I’m the only person that’s ever had the issue so it must be me. Last phone call was very long and they ended up wanted to pass me along to their “innovation lab” to try and remedy. I called back but the hours are limited and haven’t gotten through yet.

@zarndt1 That's disappointing. Acknowledging others are having the issue is better than just saying you're the only one, when obviously you're not.

You aren't the only experiencing this issue.  My wife has IOS and gets logged out at random intervals.  My android doesn't seem to have the same issue

Same issue on this end with the android app. I have a family of four and each of them needs to be able to arm and disarm the system. But for some reason Simplisafe constantly logs out despite requiring two-factor login and prohibiting more than one verification method.

You can't have it both ways - either make two factor extremely secure with only one verification number but DO NOT log out of authorized devices or allow us to login with our credentials and simply require us to enter the alarm pin when disabling the alarm on our phone just like we would at a keypad. Many of us only bothered getting an alarm system when we stopped being single and were worried for our families. Yet the product is designed as if the target market is single person households. This is a simple fix but it needs to be addressed ASAP please.

@Confused_User You can have multiple verification numbers with two factor authentication.  I only figured this out recently after a year of texting my wife the code.  Initially it will text the primary number. BUT you can click on that number and drop down to have it text a secondary number.   STUPID design but at least she can get her own verification code

@CaptJim Very much appreciated - for some reason when I first set up the system I got an error message saying they couldn't support multiple verification methods at this time. That message no longer comes up when I try to manage methods and we can login with any of them. Cheers!

As @CMart mentioned, there used to be LOTS of posts on this thread, including mine, that have since disappeared.

SimpliSafe - THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE FOR EVERYONE.

For others on this thread, here's the only response from SimpliSafe I've seen on this thread. As mentioned, this post (9/23/22) is now inaccessible:

Yes this is still an issue. And it’s a huge problem for users. The development team needs to make this a high priority issue. They are having a problem where authorization tokens aren’t storing properly causing us to have to login every day and it’s insane how long it’s been going on.

Hello,

Posting one more update on this issue. Those of you checking in over the past couple of months are part of a spike in reports of forced logouts, resulting from an issue known to our dev team. Work on a fix is still in progress. Please keep an eye out for app updates.

@davey_d Thanks for the follow-up.

I do know -- and do appreciate -- that you all are aware of this issue and are working on it; and it is nice to see now that you all seem to have isolated -- and are, therefore, aware of -- the issue causing the problem.

Looking forward to the fix via an app update, which will, hopefully, be soon.

@davey_d  Thank you for the update. My family and I have been having this problem for months and it is getting much worse. I have to log on at least every other day. My husband has deleted his app altogether because of this issue. Not good for security. We are all iOS users. Looking forward to the updated program.

I started having this issue when I updated to the latest iOS a  couple of weeks ago. It is really annoying and inconvenient at times. Came here hoping someone had some insight! Hopefully Simplisafe is working on an update to the app to work out this bug.
