Are all integrations 1-way?

I was reading about how SS has integration with Alexa, Google and I think Apple Homekit too. But it seems this is only 1-way, you can issue commands to Siri/Alexa/Google but you can't get your smart-home to perform actions based on SS events. e.g. Turn some smart-plugs on when the system is armed, etc. Is that correct?

Obviously IFTTT is the big missing platform but if there was some way to cobble things together that'd still be nice. Is it possible at all?

1. We have our SS3 connected to our Alexa via the Simplisafe skill. The only thing you can do with it is arm it or ask to get its current status (Armed or off). For security reasons, you can not verbally disarm your system.  Also, there is no support to have the system arm or disarm in response to another action being performed. We did try to put the Simplisafe Skill into a routine, but it was cumbersome and didn't function smoothly at all.   It should function similarly on a Google Home Assistant.

2. There is not any Apple Homekit support and I doubt there ever will be. While it was teased at a couple years ago, communications have came out that said this is basically a dead road.

3. There are some sparse integrations in the Simplisafe app for other smart products. We use August locks and have set it up for Simplisafe to send a lock command to the doors when we arm the alarm. I can't recall off the top of my head what all is available to integrate this way.

Hope this information helps!

Thanks Dan. I guess what I'm after is not controlling the system (though it's handy) but ANY way to get notifications FROM simplisafe so you can do something. Whether its turn a light on based on armed status, or particularly if the alarm actually goes off.

As you say SS can send notifications/commands to August locks but I wonder if there's any way to tap into that. I have the Honeywell smart heating and I've seen homebrew (coder projects) integrations in just the same way.

SS seems very resistant to this based on reading the forums and it's not clear why. They make all their money off the subscription so  letting you bolt more stuff on top is hardly going to hurt them.

I would also welcome something like that. Our whole house is filled with smart bulbs, so I wish there was a way that, when an alarm is trigged, all the houselights would turn on to white with maximum brightness, and also for the outside lights to flash in red. Alas, it's not possible at this moment. Maybe someday...

I wonder if you can hack/homebrew SS... you'd think as a security device this might not be easy but you never know.

@Mister Boy there were some basic IFTTT routines written for SS2 but nothing for SS3. As it is fully encrypted, so far Simplisafe has done all of the integrations.

I googled a bit yesterday and people are saying the mobile app is not specially encrypted, you can make your own program that will talk to SS.

BUT someone suggested that since SS will send email alerts, you can do automation based on emails rather than anything more clever. You can certainly link email triggers with IFTTT for instance. No idea how well it would work, but worth a try probably!
