Alarm Off

Hey.  So I was just sitting here minding my own business and my alarm says, "Alarm Off".  I mean that's a good thing to know, but I did not actually press the off button and I was nowhere near the control panel when it did this.  This is the first time that it's happened.  Is this normal?  What is the reason for it?

Did you or someone else have the keyfob with you and accidentally hit the button or sit on it? We have done that where it was in my pocket and I forgot and it did that now thank god it wasn't the panic button lol. Also if you have put it on test mode and forget to take it off after a few minutes it will take itself out of test mode and say alarm off, now not saying anything like this did happen just trying to narrow it down some as mine has never done that without it being something that did it.

I don't have a keyfob.

I haven't put it on test in at least a week.

It was strange and it made the base station feel haunted. ;)

It does sound weird as i never had this happen to me without me doing it but if it makes you feel better you can do a reboot on it. First pull plug out from bottom of the base station then unscrew the little screw on bottom for battery then pull one out and wait a few minutes then put battery back in then plug base back in then do the same with keypad pull one battery out for a minute then put back in and it should reboot and put you in test mode which then you can exit out of. If you haven't try that and let us know if not then if it does it again then you will probably have to call early 9 am in the morning is the best time, but keep us informed.

It just did it again. I'm wondering if there is some kind of interference that is sending alarm off signals to it.  I'll reboot it.

Edit: I don't see a screw on the bottom of the base.

Edit again: Found it.  I didn't realize that the backup was four cheap AA rechargeable batteries.  I might have to put better ones in it.  I rebooted it.  We'll see what happens from here.

Yea they are just cheap ones but they work for now lol but let us know if rebooting works out.

This happened to me and SS said I must have went into keypad to look at something and forgotten to exit out of it properly as their IT chap found in my timeline (not visual for me to see) that I had went into keypad and it was effectively timing itself out by exiting back to OFF mode status.

To this day I cant recall being in the keypad before it - but it was when I was messing around with it a lot as a new toy.

I checked my timeline and there are no incidents displaying for the times that it happened.  I think that it shall remain a mystery.  It hasn't happened at all since rebooting the base station.  Hopefully that continues. :)

@usmaak well lets hope that works out for ya, usually rebooting does the trick but who really knows right but hope it keeps going with no problems.

It hasn't happened to me, but in the last two days, I've had a couple weird incidents with my system - I don't think it's a serious issue, unless it's an SS server issue of some sort.

1.  Keypad not lighting up when disarming
2.  Separate incident - a different keypad showing caution icon but pressing it showed NO message
3.  Delayed SMS messages for arming/disarming
4.  Inability to refresh Devices on online control panel, getting errors, then a blank page, then somehow correcting itself
5.  Missing automatic test signals received in Timeline of events (which happens on a regular basis, I posted about it in a thread not long ago, apparently, others have missing as well)
6.  I'm just waiting for the next weird event.

Even though this is an old thread, I am currently experiencing the same situation. 7/16/22

This morning I have had the base station announce that the alarm has been shut off, without any input whatsoever - again.  It sends a text message and email to me that it was turned of using the remote (?).  It's a mystery to me.  This has repeatedly happened in the past also.

To make it more interesting, the base station has also announced spontaneously "Welcome to Simplisafe" a few times also.  Usually after it has announced that the system is disarmed.

Also, on occasion, the keypad will give the message that it is out of range from the base station.  I find this hard to believe as it is approximately 20 feet away from the base station and within line of sight.  Moving it closer has no effect and I have rebooted  to get it to work.  My Gen 1 system never had such a problem and it was nearly 60 ft between the keypad and Base station.

I hesitate to do a reboot the system again as it is a real PIA to have to re-add the sensors and I have to get out a ladder to reset the various sensors I have installed.  I have had to do complete re-installs of all sensors.  Rebooting has not seemed to stop this from happening.

I am using a Comcast/Xfinity modem and router, so I am not sure if that is a factor.

Do I have a lemon?
