Important Update on Camera Recordings

Hi all,
We want to let you know of a change that we've made to help protect your privacy, based on customer feedback. From now on, recordings will no longer be triggered when arming your SimpliSafe system in either Home or Away Modes. This change affects both the SimpliCam Indoor Camera, as well as the Video Doorbell Pro.
Camera recordings can of course still be triggered from other actions on your SimpliSafe system, including:

  • Security system disarms
  • Full alarm events
  • Alerts from the built-in Motion Sensor
  • Video Doorbell button presses
  • Secret Alert triggers

We here at SimpliSafe believe strongly that you can't have security without privacy - and boosting one will strengthen the other. Of course, we are always open to your feedback or questions. Let us know what you think!

If you are that concerned with privacy, why do you have cameras in your house at all?

If the cameras didn't have the little doors on them that close, there is no way I would have these things in my house.  I have a couple of Echo Show devices and I put black tape over the cameras before I even plugged them in.

I like the doors on the lenses.  People complain sometimes about the noise that they make when opening and closing but I like the noise because it lets you know when they open.  It's been strange not to hear that loud click when I arm my system.

Why did this get changed without an option to leave it the way it was?  My doorbell camera is now no longer recording secret events.  I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my service.  I've had it with the poor performance of the doorbell camera losing video.  The connection test passes fine as well, so it's not a problem with my Wifi.

Same thing with me. I have three cameras plus the doorbell camera. Now that SimpliSafe has changed everything back to the way it was before, my doorbell camera is not recording the events like it used to yet my three Simplicams are. Previously before the update all cameras recorded.  The doorbell camera is also not recording secret events like it used to before SS made these changes.  Is there something about he doorbell camera that isn't allowing it to work now?

Hi all,

The Video Doorbell Pro not recording for Secret Alerts appears to have been a side effect of the recent change regarding recording system arming events. As of this afternoon, the Video Doorbell Pro's ability to record for Secret Alerts has been restored. If anybody continues to experience any issues, please let us know.

Hi,

I understand and appreciate disabling exit delay/arm away event recordings for privacy, but I would like to have the option to enable these.  We use our cameras to check in on our pets and having a recording from all cameras when we (or a pet sitter) leaves let's us see that all our pets are inside and didn't sneak out.  I hope you consider making this change optional, or, even better, make all record-on-event options configurable.

How to remove delay from Indoor camera recording. Camera should begin recording as soon as motion is detected. Recording doesn't start for 30 seconds. how to change that
