How to change sensor chimes to verbal announcement

How do you change the chime setting so that for instance, if the front door opens the systems says "front door" (or something of this nature) instead of just beeping?

Agree. this was one of the first things I tried to figure out setting it up for the first time today. Seems an obvious feature. I have two levels and 6 doors..kinda need to know which one is being open.

This is really a must have and should be std with any security system. When arming as well as when a sensor is triggered, it should announce which sensor is in a triggered state. I don't have time to run around the entire home to find the door or window that is open when arming the system for the night. If I can name the sensors there is no reason to not use those names to announce.

I don't see anything here on this topic post December 12th 2020 so wanted to drop a new post. Having just received my system today I could not be more disappointed to not have specific sensor trigger annoucements. I have two young children and while not necessarily a security concern, it is incredibly helpful when they open the door to know where they are going out. If this feature is not something that is made a priority by the development team, I am most certainly going to canel my Simplisafe account and revert back to my old system. That feature to me is well worth the extra few dollars I was paying each month.

They will not tell you if they actually plan to implement it, and if they do decide to do it, they won't provide a schedule, and if they complete it, it will have taken "forever" and they may not even announce it as available. So if it is a deal breaker for the system, I'd go back to the system which has that feature. Note that if you ordered it less than 60 days ago, you can return it for a complete refund. Call and get a return label, and make sure you record the tracking number, because there have been cases where they did not realize they had gotten a system back.

I'm surprised SimpliSafe doesn't have anything like this yet. Even an option to choose what sound effect the system makes when each entry sensor is opened would be nice. Even my dumb alarm (no app or anything) I had installed more than 10 years ago had a voice for each door that opened.

Yes, custom chimes would even be better than nothing.

Simplisafe has been so innovative already, this seems like a no-brainer to get users excited to use the system.

I've had simplisafe for awhile now. However, after hearing others security systems where you actually get a verbal cue as to which device has been triggered, I think it might be time to go. Such a simple feature, requested so long ago. It's pretty amazing how deaf they are to what seems like a simple demand from the community. C'est la vie.

I had it on my last security system, which was 10years out of date. I would have thought all security systems would have the option to verbally tell you which sensor was tripped. I was surprised to find that SS doesn't have it. I'm hoping it's an option soon, but I won't hold my breath.

I asked the Simplisafe salesperson if this system could make door announcements rather than chimes, and they said this was possible. I'm pretty disappointed that this system does not have that capability.
