How Do I Remove My Entry Sensor (Unable To Access Tab)
Hey, forum (and friends), it has been long since I saw you/posted. While I was on vacation last year, an Entry Sensor (to a main window in front of my home) fell, so I had someone stop by and stick it back up. Unfortunately, they did not know where it was previously, and they attached the bottom of the sensor (not the magnet) too close to the bottom of the window (just above the wooden board). Now, the battery is low and needs changing. Although I can access the 3M adhesive pull tab (they did attach it button side up), there is no way/no room to pull directly down on it to release it from the wall properly. Is there another safe, simple way to remove the adhesive? I have read about using a blow dryer along with floss, etc., to get it off, but do any of you know of a surefire, more straightforward way? I do not believe pulling the tab straight out will work. I have been putting it off since I realized the problem, but being a first-floor entry-level window, I need to get at it.
I appreciate any help you can provide.

@shiherlis Hi, and welcome back to the community. If you are sure its 3M tape suggest pulling on the tab slowly and get as much puled from underneath as possible. It will break but should be enough to then slowly hold the base on both sides and gently/slowly pulling from the bottom to get if off. Base should not crack.
Suggest you don't use regular 3M strips to put it back. Go out and get 3M Velcro picture hanging strips. Size doesn't matter, and as entry sensors are so light, you can even just get 1-3 pound strips. You have to cut to fit and put tape on the wall and the case of the sensor. The beauty of using this type of strip is 1. they will never come off or separate, and 2. a breeze to take off and put back on.
One last item. Best Buy sells a package of 4 entry sensors at a great price. Good luck and, again, good to hear from you!

@shiherlis We have known the dental floss trick to be successful in removing the adhesive strip from a surface when its pull tab is no accessible. A small, plastic scraper blade could also work to get between the adhesive strip and the surface.
We have also seen people slowly rotate the sensor side by side. Doing this will allow the adhesive to stretch out and get loose. Just be sure to twist the sensor only, as pulling on it could remove some paint with it!
