Same thing here. Door sensor. Gave low battery message. Replaced battery. It would not reconnect to the system. As others have mentioned here, I had to remove and re-add it. I have the latest system and software updates.
Same issue as well after the latest system update. Would not find the device after refreshing or going into test mode. Had to delete it at the keypad and reenter it.
This issue should be fixed already! Based on this post alone it's been happening for two years!!! People should not have to reinstall sensors every time they replace a battery!!!
Finally! After 14 hours if changing batteries, and sensor position, my wife found this site and I took the advice found here.
We had two sensors go into the “offline” mode within a day of each other after replacing a weak battery. Whatever the cause, the fix (in our home anyway) was to delete the entry sensor and reinstall it following the pairing instructions.
Same thing here. If battery dies I have no option but to delete the device and add it / name it from scratch. Have latest firmware. Commenting to confirm this is still an issue. Given it has been an issue for three years, losing hope this will be fixed though.
honestly I end up procrastinating to change the battery because I know I’ll have to do this and it’s annoying. Given I have a lot of sensors, it ends up the case that I have a bunch of sensors not connected at any time. Antithetical to the of having an alarm system.
to the SimpliSafe folks - it looks like the app has the device ID still. Is it that hard to have a “reconnect” workflow? It can be the same thing as adding a new device, just retain the name and device type and avoid the need to go through the whole new device flow. It can be almost the same exact thing as now, just a single “reconnect” button on the app and click the physical button on the sensor. Just avoid all the steps of a new device flow.

Yes- all my sensors have now switched to: replace battery and repair. Awful experience.
