Cellular Module Installation (Gen 3 SimpliSafe®)

Updated

Does your Keypad look like the one pictured to the left? Then you're in the right place! You've got the Gen 3 SimpliSafe system. If you purchased a system in 2017 or earlier, you have the Original SimpliSafe. If you're not certain which system you have, you can tell the difference here.

Before Getting Started

You’ll need to connect your SimpliSafe® System to Wi-Fi. You will need a Wi-Fi connection either through your home network or a mobile hotspot to update the software for your system

You can connect to Wi-Fi using the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, or by using your Keypad.

Using the Mobile App

  1. Open the SimpliSafe® Mobile App on your phone or tablet

  2. Choose My System from the navigation bar at the bottom of the App

  3. Next, select Base Station Settings

  4. Tap on ‘WiFi Network’

    1. Your device will automatically begin scanning for available networks - so ensure that your Wi-Fi network is discoverable!

  5. Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks

  6. Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network

  7. Tap Connect

Using the Keypad

  1. Press the "Menu" button on your Keypad and enter your 4-digit Master PIN when prompted.

  2. Navigate to System Settings and select it by pressing the right arrow.

  3. Navigate to Wi-Fi and select it. After a few moments, your Keypad will display a list of available networks.

  4. Scroll to the network you'd like to connect to and press the right arrow to select it.

  5. Enter your network password. The Base Station will attempt to connect to the network and the Keypad will notify you of the result.

    1. If unsuccessful, you will be asked to verify your password by re-entering it.

Once connected, you’ll need to update the software for your SimpliSafe® System. You can manually check for updates using your system’s Keypad.

  1. Press Menu on your Keypad

  2. Enter your Primary PIN

  3. Scroll and select System Settings

  4. Use the right arrow to choose Check for Updates
