Why would SimpliSafe put a "No link to dispatcher" message on my keypads

Why would SimpliSafe put a "No link to dispatcher" message on my keypads. As of a few months ago I did not have this issue.  They informed me its is because I am not paying for active monitoring, which is true.  My question to them was, Why would you put a message on the keypad that essen

I was told that the solution was to pay for active monitoring or take a discount to buy a whole new system, neither of which interests me.
