Outdoor Camera Firmware 1.40

5 second delay added, or should I say reintroduced to the Outdoor Camera — hooray. Now cars and people simply teleport to the front of my property. Seriously Simplisafe, come-on. We're talking basic testing here for something that should give us confidence in our home security.

@Immz I am on the same version and have not experienced this phenomenon. (although I am a big Star Trek fan, and even a proud owner of "Beam me up biscotti!)  Okay, very little humor aside, can you post your video showing the issue? Did the connection check tool show any issues?

Ha, I’m a Star Trek fan myself — we must be due a new movie by now.

Well not much to share, there’s either a delay in it waking up, or decreased sensitivity that wasn’t as bad before.

It will pick up those at the door, only when they are at the door but, that’s not really good enough. It’s always been a widely recurring theme.

Connection check reports good and 3 bars. Battery is low, but surely performance isn’t degraded based on battery?

I’ve no doubt if I reboot the camera (again this month) it will probably improve (refresh following update) but that’s not a feasible ongoing strategy.

I’d have assumed you would be utilising performance mode, connected to a power supply and/or have the latest new fancy models available?

@Immz Your post just cleared up, I believe, the difference, and its a big one. All of my cameras (OD original, series 2 and SA indoor cameras are on AC.   I unplugged one of my OD cameras to check and confirmed, if on battery only it is not in performance mode and is much, much slower. Unfortunately since all of mine are on AC, it won't compare accurately with yours if they are all on battery. If it is slower then the firmware upgrade is suspect. Interesting to see what SS's reply will be.

Live long and prosper!
