System weakness

Apart from exit/entry sounds being too low, now I find that the alarm will set even when a perimeter door is open. This is very poor security, are there any plans in place to correct this, before I fill in the review asked by SimpliSafe?

Thanks for raising this.
I can understand why it might feel counter-intuitive at first.

When an entry sensor is open and you set the alarm, the system will still arm, but it clearly alerts you that a sensor is open in the app and on the Keypad screen. Once that door or window is closed, it immediately becomes monitored. If it’s re-opened while the system is armed, it will trigger the alarm as expected.

This behaviour is intentional rather than a security flaw. Many customers want the flexibility to arm their system while leaving windows open (for example during warmer weather) so the rest of the property remains protected. Blocking arming altogether would remove that option.

If you want a specific door or window to stay open but still be protected, you can use a slim or additional magnet in the open position. That way, if the door or window moves from that position while armed, the alarm will trigger.

Things like exit/entry volume can be amplified by using the Auxillary siren if the volume from the Keypad is not satisfactory based on its position.

Happy to help further if you want to talk through the best setup for your home.

Thanks for getting back, does the additional siren state that the system has a sensor open and if so what is the additional cost please?

my issue was more apparent after using a fob, because without the app and no sound outside, you are not aware of the status?

by all means, if you would prefer me to communicate separately to the forum, for security reasons, please let me have your contact details.

The Siren only mimics keypad entry and exit beeps, and alarm sirens and would recommend this to extend reach of sound.
It does not mimic voice prompts and errors (as if used outside, it could inform passer-bys of your system status).
You will still need to look at the app, or the keypad to understand if there are any issue or notices, but the siren will at least confirm arming or disarming by being able to hear the entry or exit beeps inside or outside the home.
