Simplisafe Smart Lock PIN Pad Batteries

It looks like both the indoor unit and the PIN pad have their own batteries.  How do I replace the batteries on the PIN pad and what type of batteries do they use?  How long do the batteries last on the indoor unit as well as the PIN pad on the outside?

Hi abcd,

The Smart Lock uses AA alkaline batteries, and those last about 8-12 months. The PIN Pad uses CR2450 Lithium (one of those flat watch batteries), and depending on use should last about 3 years.

@davey_d how do you access the pin pad batteries?  Myself and 3 other adults have attempted with no luck at all!

@jeannehewing To remove the PIN Pad from the base use the included tool. Insert the pointy end into the small hole located at the PIN Pad base. The PIN Pad will

release from the base.  There are two CR2450 batteries.

@davey_d I lost the little tool. How can I order a replacement?

@robbenaicha are you referring to the little tool for unmounting the PIN Pad? It's basically the same as the pin used for ejecting SIM cards from your phone, if you have one of those lying around. Or you can use a paperclip.

But our Support team can help with a replacement.
