We have been asking / demanding / begging for the ability to add users to our accounts so we are not forced to share admin login credentials. Our families and other people in our households need access to items in the app such as cameras and we should not be required to share our main account login with them. In 2019 Simplisafe said this was in development. I've been promised for over a year that this is in development. Where is it?? Stop lying to us and get it done.

This is one of the only frustrations I have with SimpliSafe. I can't let others have access to the app, so I'm the only one that can turn the system on and off remotely. I am hoping the fix will also address the fact that you can only have four codes! Honestly, I would be willing to purchase a new base station if that is what it required to address these two issues.
I never expected this from a SECURITY company. The very first rule in security is to NEVER share your username and password, yet that is exactly what you tell your customers to do! This is profoundly unacceptable. Fix this immediately SimpliSafe or I'm quitting and I will let the entire world know why.

@davey_d That is crazy that 3 + years later and this feature, from a security company no less, is still not out or even being announced as coming! Every other security system company out there is allowing multi family access to their apps and has been for years. Get with it SimpliSafe!
I would like to add my vote for this as well, with the ability to give specific permissions. I have Simplisafe in my home and just set it up for my warehouse, assuming I could add a location and allow only access to the warehouse location for my employees. I was wrong, so now I am going to need to switch to a different service for my warehouse.
We fully recognize this security concern. Multi-factor authentication through registered phone numbers does alleviate this a bit as it provides a second layer of security that only your authorized users can access. Of course, we treat digital security just as seriously as physical security. We will keep you updated in this thread when we have news.
With MFA set up, you'll be sent a confirmation code to your phone. You can also set up multiple contact numbers to receive that code, so that you don't need to share that confirmation code. Each of your family members can receive their own. And what's more, only those numbers that are already registered in your account will be able to access the app.
Have to add on to this one. With 2-factor verification, how in the world do any multi people household use this system together?
My husband wants to check the cameras, he logs in (because the app keeps logging him out which is a whole other topic) and it sends my cell phone a verification code. I'm at a movie--phone silenced and in my bag because that's the rule right? He can't get in. Can't review the cameras for the whole time I'm enjoying the film!
This is a basic use case that would apply to families, roommates, and more. Literally any house with more than one person in it. I don't understand how this use case is not covered well? We sat on the phone with support and got escalated to the next level multiple times to even get an explanation or suggested workaround.
It makes me feel like I've invested all my security in a start up company, which makes me reconsider using SimpliSafe.
Multi-user accounts is a feature that is currently in development. In the meantime, you can set up Multi-Factor Authentication. This allows multiple phone numbers to get a confirmation code so you don’t need to share it.
This thread began in March 2019, and has had 33,000 views and 103 comments on it from your customers. If you haven't figured out a solution by now, you either don't care/aren't listening close enough to your customers on this major security issue OR you are incompetent/don't have the right developers working for your company. An issue this large should have top priority and in any case shouldn't be an issue that takes four years to resolve.
At this point, if you continue to pacify us by claiming this feature is "in development," you should at least provide us with concrete updates and an expected timeline to appropriately set expectations before we all jump to another security platform.
Looks like this multiple user account feature has been on the “to-do” list for the past 5 years. It would be really nice to be able to allow my child to login on the app to view cameras when a stranger comes ringing the door bell or walks onto the property, but without having access to change and play with all of the security system settings. Kind of a safety concern in a way without the ability for the family to participate.
So after 5 years of discussing this, have there been any actionable developments by SimpliSafe on this issue??? And what is the huge difficulty with being able to add this feature? If there was any reason why I would consider changing home security providers, this would DEFINITELY be the main one!
Just add the app on there phone and use your log in info and they are good to go. Meand my wife have the app and I just logged in her app with my log in info and now she can do anything in the app.
This would be good, except for when you have a family member or guest who needs to view who is at the door or in the driveway on the cameras, but should not have access to the security settings, private information and the entire financial portion of the account. If they can’t make the app more user and family friendly, you would at least think that they could create a monitor to put in the house that can display camera views during action events!
The app currently only supports single-user login. The workaround is that your family members can log into the account on their own devices using your login credentials.
Once you're logged in to the app, you'll want to head over to Menu > Manage Account > Multi-Factor Authentication, where you can set up multiple phone numbers. So the next time someone else in your family needs to log in, they can have the verification code sent to their own phone.
True. Still does not address issue of access to primary account user options.
Software needs to protect that info and let others log in on their own to monitor.
Would also be helpful if site clarified that ONLY 4 additional users can be added. Not helpful if you want to give access and track tradesmen/household helpers, multiple family members and guests. A down side of this system compared to other security systems.
@lee_9aaef3 this is the same response they have been giving for years on this subject at this point. It is always copied and pasted to anyone who brings up the issue unfortunately.
We just set up SS in a family owned vacation house- I need to give many family members access to the app in order for many people to monitor cameras and disable alarm remotely before arrival, but don't want them to have access to billing profile, settings, etc. (and they don't want it, either). How can I give "user level" access to family and retain "administrator level" access for myself, or whomever is going to run the billing and setting side of the system.
Thanks, Zaphod! Yes, someone from Simplisafe, please give an update and a solution. We are frustrated by this situation at two homes now. We'd like multiple family members to be able to monitor house cameras and activity, but not account information and settings. This is not an odd request. Simplisafe's been great to us, except for this. Can we get an update, please?

Is this a priority? We've been waiting years for this update. Single users are a major usability and security shortcoming.

Will SimpliSafe ever offer the ability to use multiple accounts with a single system? Sharing accounts between family members is not secure.
