Keypad Freezing

I have had my system for 2+ years now and just had this occur.  Came in and upon punching in the  disarm code, keypad froze and then went black.  Of course the alarm went off and I had NO WAY to disarm it as my wife has the only fob.  Hard to believe there isn't a way to turn it off using the app on your cellphone.  Put new batteries in after about 5 minutes and it worked.

Am I missing something, is there a way to disarm using the app?  If not, why?

@dfreedom we definitely have arm and disarm controls via the SimpliSafe app! Do you already have the app set up? You'll need to activate your system before it can be controlled.

I do have the app and my system is activated.  It is not monitored however.  Does it have to be monitored for me to be able to arm/disarm via the app?

Thanks

@dfreedom apologies, to clarify: if you have the Gen 3 SimpliSafe system (the current gen), then you can set up Basic App Control even without Monitoring service. That's because the Gen 3 system can connect through WiFi.

However, since it sounds like you're not seeing it, then you might have the SimpliSafe Original? Unfortunately, owners of the Original system do need to have at least the $17.99 Standard Monitoring Plan, since that activates the cellular connection - which is the only way that the Original system can connect to the service.

I know it isn't the "old" system.   My app shows the system but says, "Basic App Control".   I may try deleting the system and setting it back up.

@dfreedom If you have our Gen 3 system, you should certainly be able to arm/disarm your system using the mobile app with our Basic App Control plan as long as the Base Station is connected to Wi-Fi. If you are unable to do so, I would highly recommend reaching out to our Support team. They'll be able to take a deeper look into your system and troubleshoot it with you live.
