Keypad is dead - new batteries did not help

I woke this morning to find my Keypad dead. I thought that it would be a simple matter of replacing the batteries but new batteries did not help. There is no response when I press any of the buttons. Fortunately I was able to disarm the system with my iPhone app.

And using the app, I checked the system status and much to my surprise the app reports that all is well with no errors. This was surprising to me so I removed the batteries from the keypad and checked once again the system status through the app and it agains reports that there are no errors. So it appears that the base station does not report correctly about the keypad.

Is there a way to reset the keypad or does it need to be replaced?

Thanks...
Chris

Worked for me too.  Anyone have any idea why this happens?

@Domingum it's possible that the issue isn't really to do with the battery, but that the Keypad had frozen and become unresponsive. Taking out a battery for a couple of seconds will ensure that power is fully flushed out, so it can be properly reset.

Worked for me after the drama of not being able to disarm alarm due to dead keypad...at 2 am!! Neighbor and SimplySafe calling and alarm did not stop for 3 mins.  Now, I have installed app as backup should this happens again. Thanks so much for the tip!

I have had my system for 2+ years now and just had this occur.  Came in and upon punching in the  disarm code, keypad froze and then went black.  Of course the alarm went off and I had NO WAY to disarm it as my wife has the only fob.  Hard to believe there isn't a way to turn it off using the app on your cellphone.  Put new batteries in after about 5 minutes and it worked.

Am I missing something, is there a way to disarm using the app?  If not, why?

I would have sworn my keypad was dead, but trying this sequence brought it back to life (3 batteries, wait 10-15 min for good measure, add 4th).  Freaky

Yes, thanks for the tip.  It works!  I just removed 2 of the 4 new AA batteries, waited for a couple of minutes, put them back in the keypad and then the keypad connected  to the base.  To make sure, I turned the system on and off with the keypad and all is working!  Thanks, again.
