Dead Key Pad

I returned home from a three week absence to find my key pad is 'dead'; not functioning at all.  Changed batteries - twice.  Still dead.  When trying to activate the system using the key remote, the base station reports 'Warning: key pad not responding; key pad battery low'.  I rebooted the base station.  Key pad 'dead'.  Any suggestions re: the key pad?

I am on my 2nd key pad that has been replaced.  It is dead again.  Going to have to deal with all of the BS again.  Thinking about not even dealing with it anymore since I have the key flob.

@Bonnie40bb,

Have you tried performing a Keypad reset? To do so:

  1. Unmount your Keypad by sliding it up, and away from the bracket.
  2. Remove all of the batteries.
  3. Wait 5 minutes to allow the power to fully flush out.
  4. Reinsert the batteries.

The Keypad should reboot, and reconnect with the Base Station shortly. If that doesn't help, extreme interference could be the culprit, as it causes the Keypad to work harder and use more power to connect with the Base Station.

Interference can be caused by physical objects directly in the way between the Keypad and Base Station - like thick walls, heavy appliances, or metal. Or it could be caused by other wireless devices competing for the same airspace; you're looking for low-frequency devices like remote controlled garage door openers, or wireless weather stations. Those different sources of interference can even work in tandem, so we'll want to identify them all and move either the Base Station or Keypad to minimize any interference.

You were right!  Took new batteries out waited 5 minutes and put back new batteries.  All good now thank you.
