Simplisafe doorbell camera release day?

Our upcoming doorbell camera, and our outdoor camera, are both still under very active development. We just want to make sure that they're ready before we can make any announcement about them coming out. Please keep an eye out for updates.

@ajp39, as the current Simplicam cameras work on both systems, there is a chance the doorbell and outdoor cams will work on both.

As far as more info on compatibility, suggest we need to be a bit more direct:

The Outdoor and Doorbell cameras are under active development. They are being designed similarly to our indoor cameras, which are compatible with both the All-New SimpliSafe and the SimpliSafe Original! We'll be sure to let you know when they're ready!

Things I hope the doorbell will have:

The ability to support multiple chiming devices.  I need one for my family room.  I can't hear my current doorbell chime from there.


I also want to be able to swear at teen-agers walking across my lawn like the old ladies do on TV.  No reason, really, I just like swearing.

Imagine this is 1985 and you've just seen Back to the Future and you can't wait to find out whats gonna happen to Marty and his kids!  Today, just like then, nobody knows when that will happen.  Hopefully the doorbell cam is more impressive than Back to the Future 2 however.

Looking forward to some news on the camera/doorbell cam. Ring Protect is coming our right around the corner and I'm still in the trial period of my SS3. Some sort of release date would be helpful.

@seanhunter777 , given past experience, I doubt SS will provide anything beyond the already "within the next quarter" which was in January that makes it by June 20th 2018.  What is promising is that they said Amazon Echo integration would happen and it did.  Even an article in PC Mag with Apple Watch integration but haven't seen anything from SS on that.

If the video doorbell is not released by June 30th two things will happen:  I will pay  off my bet with General_KAOS and SS will release it shortly thereafter.  (I am confident SS is keenly aware of the pressure  the release of Ring's security system puts on them. :-)

Yea my return is in about a week. If they don't get it this month or july 4th I'm going to call to cancel my subscription, send back my stuff and then buy ring. They are only $10 a month and have flood light cameras like that's BOSS!!!! They may be new but they seem to know what they are doing with this.
