Doorbell camera battery

My app tells me that my front doorbell camera has a battery life of less than 30%. I don’t see the battery. How do I remedy this?

Hi @chevyknight1970,

The Video Doorbell does have a small battery to help it operate, but it isn't big enough to keep it powered for more than a few minutes. The wired doorbell that it is plugged into should be keeping it charged. Since you're seeing this message, though, that implies that the Video Doorbell is not getting enough power.

A Chime Connector will ensure that your Video Doorbell is receiving the proper voltage, and should help here. If you contact our Support team, they can send one to you.

@jcc3onthehill Are you receiving any error messages for your Video Doorbell, or is it just not turning on?

The Video Doorbell might have arrived with a dead battery that needs to get charged before the doorbell can boot up. I'd leave the Video Doorbell on the mount with the wires connected for about 10 minutes so it can charge up a bit. After 10 minutes, check the Video Doorbell again to see if it will power up.

It could also be that the mounting plate may not have proper contact with the gold pins on the Video Doorbell, which would result in it not getting enough power. Make sure that the mounting plate isn't screwed on too tight so it's bending, as that can prevent solid contact on the gold pins.

If both of these troubleshooting steps do not help, then a Chime Connector may be needed. The Chime Connector helps provide the proper voltage to the Video Doorbell so it can function properly. You can reach out to our Support team to get a Chime Connector free of charge.
