Door bell chimes but has no light

I just bought this house and it has a Door Bell Pro.  The doorbell chimes but there is no light.  I read that it has no power with no light but that makes no sense since it chimes when I hit the button.  Does anybody know what I can check?

A bit more info.  I used a voltage meter and measured the wires.  It shows 20 volt A/C.  For what that is worth.

Welcome to the community! It sounds like it's possible the status light was turned off on the camera by the previous owner. This can be configured under the settings for the Video Doorbell Pro. You may need to run through the steps in this Help Center article to connect the SimpliSafe system to your own account.

Same failure, except I've had this unit installed since right after they hit market (original owner).

Worked fine until a few days ago.  Will "chime" but the unit dropped off-line.  No lights, no connectivity, multiple reset/connection attempts to no avail.

Presuming this one has exceeded its useful life and needs repair/replacement.

@33s​ It would definitely be best for you to contact our support team to troubleshoot this further. It does sound like the unit may not be functioning as intended, and if they come to that conclusion they'll be able to look over replacement options with you. Same problem, doorbell has no light and cannot be paired with the app. I pressed the reset button too. Previous owner said everything worked well.

@ThomasB​ When you say you pressed the reset button, which one did you press - the smaller or the larger button? 

To perform a soft reset on the Video Doorbell, you must press and hold the large button on the back of the doorbell for 30 seconds. Any less and the Video Doorbell may not reset properly. 

I would recommend reaching out to our Support team for some real time troubleshooting to get your Video Doorbell up and running.

Same issue..Pressed the "large" button on the back for 30 seconds..re entered the password, scanned (see note) the QR code and all went well. However.. a hint on scanning the QR code. Screenshot it and enlarge it slightly before scanning it. This has worked on other versions of SS cameras, too, when scanning didn't seem to work.

@tuckerandy​ that also works if your phone screen is too small, or if you have a lower resolution, or if the glare of the screen makes it harder for the camera to see the whole code. Sometimes emailing yourself the screenshot and trying on another screen (like on an iPad or PC) helps as well!
