No charger was included because it is designed to be wired into your existing mechanical door. Others have posted they have acquired a power converter and connected the doorbell through a hole in the wall, assuming power receptacle within reach of the door bell.
If you wired your SS Doorbell to your existing doorbell wiring, the small amount of voltage that the old doorbell used to make the connection and ring will keep your SS Doorbell charged. This is all based on whether I read the documentation correctly.
Since installing the Doorbell Pro, January 20, 2020. I have had to recharge its battery twice using a USB connection. The door bell was connected to the existing doorbell wiring, when tested it rang the chime in the house. I assumed the wiring had some voltage in it to make the door chime ring. Questions:
1. is it correct to assume the existing wiring has sufficient voltage in it to charge the battery (it doesn't that I can see or the battery wouldn't run down in the first place).
2. How long should the charge on the battery last IF the voltage doesn't keep it charged up.
3. How long should it take to charge the battery using usb connection.
Thanks for checking in about this. The Video Doorbell Pro should be powered entirely by the wired doorbell system. The Video Doorbell does have a small battery, which is required for operation. But the USB port on the back does not charge that battery - it's intended for servicing only.
If your Video Doorbell Pro is failing to stay powered, there might be an issue with the doorbell circuit. Or there might be a hardware issue, which a replacement can resolve. Our Support team can assist with that.
@Gwen_safe The Video Doorbell Pro has a very small internal battery, but it cannot be replaced. The Video Doorbell Pro should be getting a continuous charge from your pre-existing doorbell wiring.
My doorbell was disconnected from the power supply for a few days. When the power was re-established, the doorbell is showing a "disconnected" status in the app and the doorbell does not illuminate. Is there a charge-up time before the doorbell becomes operational again?
@victormike1977 hi. The Video Doorbell Pro has its own firmware that is updated automatically, and is not affected by Base Station/Keypad updates. So 4-5 are a separate issue from 1-3.
But regarding that Base Station update - what are you seeing when you attempt to initiate the update through the Keypad? And is your Base Station connected via WiFi (which is required for updates)? You can check by going to Menu > System Settings > WiFI.
And as for the doorbell, how long as the unit been installed? It might not be getting the right voltage from the circuit. It's a long shot, but a Chime Connector might help - our Support team can provide that for you free of charge.

Doorbell not working.
1) My cell phone says the battery is less than thirty percent 30%
2) All circuit breakers in the house have been on.
3) The doorbell is hardwired.
4) The simply safe app says there's an update available.
5) The keypad will not allow me to accomplish the update.
6) WTH

I use my old Ring cable to charge it, since Simplisafe did not include the cable. Works like a charm!
