Google Gemini and voice commands

I used to use the Simplisafe integration and voice commands to turn on my system via the Google Assitant. All very handy. However since the Gemini update, when I use the command such as "Set Security System to away", Gemini lies and says its done but on checking in the app it has not set the system. Have the voice commands been retired in Gemini?!

We’re looking into whether additional steps or updates are needed for full compatibility through internal testing.
In the meantime, could you confirm:
  • If you still have access to the Google Assistant app and whether the command still works there?
  • Whether Gemini gives any confirmation or error in your activity log?

Hello and thanks for getting back.

I've tried across all my devices as follows:

  • Google speakers (still on Google Assistant) - worked fine for both setting home and away modes by voice.
  • Android devices (tablet/phone/watch, all on Gemini) - on the tablet and phone, Gemini didn't respond but the log stated the security system was set, the actual alarm system wasn't. See pics below. For my watch, Gemini said the alarm was set as asked but again it wasn't set on the system itself. See second pic below.

Note that both Assistant and Gemini set the system successfully if it is set as part of a routine.
