Disable push notifications for arming and disarming

I recently upgraded to a new iPhone and now get a notification each time the system is armed or disarmed.  I want to remove these notifications but retain notifications if the alarm is triggered or there is a malfunction.  Any help with this?

Hi @kajjunglov ,

Arming and disarming notifications are part of the Activity Notification category. You can change which notifications you receive by category in the SimpliSafe app under My System > Alerts & Notifications > Push Notifications.

Hi Davey.  I see that but only want to disable the notifications when the system is armed or disarmed.  The only options to turn off are for Alarm Triggered and Warnings (when the system is not functioning properly).  I want to keep the Alarm Trigged and Warning notifications, but remove the armed/disarmed.  Is that an option?

@kajjunglov Notifications for the system being armed and disarmed fall under the Activity notification setting. To confirm, you do not see Activity notifications available? Our devs are investigating similar cases where users have started to receive these notifications without the option available. I've added your case to their on-going ticket, someone should reach out to you soon to help further their investigation.

@emily_s please add me as well. I was looking for the same option and do not have it.

I think what they're asking for is a way to receive all notifications except for arm/disarm. They want granular control over what activity, exactly, they receive notifications for.

Is this possible?

@worthingArming and disarming notifications fall under the Activity Notification category, which is only available with certain monitoring plans. It sounds like what's happening here is that some users have begun receiving these notifications without turning them on, and without the option in their app to turn them off. Our engineers are looking into why this happened and how to resolve it.

@ZThomas1987 In the SimpliSafe mobile app, if you navigate to the My System gear on the bottom of the screen > Alerts & Notifications > Push Notifications, do you see an "Activity" setting? If you do, you can toggle that off and click "Save" in the top right corner to stop receiving these notifications.

Hi, just added the wireless outdoor camera to my existing system. I too have the same issue of push text msg to cell phone when turning the alarm on or off, don't care for this.

Also, the 3bar icon at the bottom says "Timeline". Do not see

anywhere to bring up "Menu". Do I perhaps have an older version of the app?

 Thanks.

@olderthandirt Apologies! Our mobile app was just updated and the placement of some things have changed. I've updated the admin responses in here to reflect that. But in the mobile app, if you go to My System on the bottom right corner of the screen > Alerts & Notifications > Push Notifications, you should see the Activity Notification category. If you toggle that off, you will stop receiving notifications when your system has been armed and disarmed.

Emily, the activity notification category does not exist. There is no way to turn off these arm/disarm notifications.

SimpliSafe has tried to contact me several times about this issue, for which I am thankful. I'm just not able to give time towards helping resolve this issue. Hopefully another SimpliSafe customer will. Thanks product support team, hope this gets fixed soon because I'm tired of these notifications multiple times per day.

@kyle_collins yes, it's because it looks like you are on a Monitoring Plan that doesn't include Activity Alerts. So don't have the ability to configure those alerts, and certainly shouldn't be receiving them at all.

Our engineering team has been investigating to figure out the root cause of this bug. We are updating on this thread.

All of the sudden I am receiving the arm/disarm alerts as well. I do not have the option on the app to control activity alerts. Please add me to the list to be notified when this issue is resolved.

Hi, I’m a new SimpliSafe user.  We just installed the system and are still in the return window.  We are getting way too many push notifications for every arm and disarm.  There is no option for Activity alerts” in the app under My System, Alerts & Notifications.  Am I to understand that you have to have a certain monitoring plan to select desired push notifications?  If so that is an absolute dealbreaker for us and the system is going back.

@kimacargill All of our monitoring plans include push notifications when an alarm has been triggered or there is a problem with your system; but only our Self Monitoring with Camera Recordings and Fast Protect™ monitoring plans offer the Activity Notification category for arming and disarming events.

Our engineering team is currently investigating why users who are not subscribed to either of those plans are receiving these notifications.

Any update on this? This is a basic function and should be included at any plan level. I don’t need to be notified that I armed the system, Im the one who armed it.

@stephenbrickner Our engineers are still investigating this issue to find the cause. When we have any updates, we will provide them in this thread.
