Users receiving Activity Push Notifications when the option is not enabled

We received reports of users receiving Push Notifications of the Activity category, even when the Activity category is not enabled. That is, they had been receiving notifications for arms and disarms, even though the option isn’t even available.

Our engineering team continues to investigate, but we have not been able to replicate in more recent versions of the SimpliSafe app. If you are experiencing this issue, it may help to remove the app completely from your phone, then reinstall directly from the App Store, to make sure that you have a clean version.

Getting notifications for when the system has been armed and disarmed. I do not have that selected. I have only warning notifications enabled. Even when I have all notifications disabled through the app, it still pushes system armed and disarmed. Only when I go in to the phone notification settings and disable the simplisafe notifications does it stop. This just started within the last week or so. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and it’s still doing it

@83hvacman  I have the android app and not experiencing this issue. If it is the android version, I would call support to do some troubhleshooting.  BTW, in general, if I have an app not working properly, the Google One support #1 step is to  clear cache, turn phone on and off and give it a go. Like chicken soup, may not help but can't hurt either.

Hi @83hvacman  ,

My first thought is to make sure that you have the right setting toggled off. Armed and Disarmed events both fall under the General Activity category, and if you have Push Notifications, SMS, and Email enabled, there are separate options for each contact.

But you mention that disabling notifications through your phone's settings also did the trick. So it sounds like you're talking about Push Notifications specifically. I'm assuming that you do have General Activity togged off, and you made sure to hit the Save button on the top right?

As @captain11 alludes to, it might also be helpful to know what phone and operating system you're using, as that can help narrow it down or at least replicate on our end.

My apologies, iPhone 11 Pro Max iOS 16.6. Cannot locate app version but it’s the latest.

Within the app push notifications I have alarm triggered disabled and warnings enabled. SMS is all disabled. I receive the arm and disarm notifications in this config. Disable the warnings, I still receive the arm alert. In the phone notification settings, I have allow notifications on Lock Screen, Notification Center, banners, banner style is  temporary, sounds and badges enabled, show preview is never, and notification grouping is automatic

I'm having this same issue, and it also started about a week ago. Pretty annoying to get a phone/watch notification every time the system is armed or disarmed. I have no way to disable these notification through the SimpliSafe app. The screen shot below shows available notification settings.

Thank you for looking into this. There are a few other threads discussing this same issue (looks like there are some on Reddit as well). This has been happening to my phone for a few months now. It's pretty annoying to get an alert every time I arm or disarm the system. And like someone mentioned earlier, the options to change this are limited. Here's a screen shot of what options are available on my iPhone...So you can see that it is not possible to turn off these arm/disarm alerts.

Hi folks,

A minor update. We previously reported this issue as resolved, but clearly there's more of you having trouble. Please do chime in if you haven't already! Our engineering team continues to investigate.

Please add me to the case. I am receiving arm/disarm notifications. I do not have the option to control the activity notifications on the app. I have an iPhone 15 with the latest OS and the SimpliSafe app is up to date.
