Doorbell will not power up
New SimpliSafe customer with extensive security system for large home. Everything works great; however, I have been through 3 different doorbells now. The doorbell chime worked on each one, but none of them would ever power up and connect to my WiFi (never got white light or any light for that matter). The doorbell is getting power (I checked with a voltmeter), and I even got a new doorbell transformer to ensure enough power was going to the the doorbell. SimpliSafe customer service has been less than adequate. I asked for a tech to come out to professionally troubleshoot, and that SimpliSafe cover the $79 since I've had so much trouble with this thing. I was told it would take a couple days to get a decision. Really!? SimpliSafe is willing to lose $25/month and the over $700 I paid for the equipment over $79?
One of main reasons I got the SimpliSafe system was for the doorbell camera. Has anyone had a similar experience and figured out why the doorbells won't work?
This post refers to an issue which may be resolved by the Doorbell Chime connector. For more info, please visit the Help Center article here. |

Two years later and SS is still sending out Doorbell Pros that do not work. I am now trying my 4th unit, with almost exactly the same results as the first 3. My story mirrors all of those listed above. At one point, I was able to get one of the Doorbell Pros to actually load the camera function (while using a USB jump, as recommended above), but it would not maintain function when attached to the mounting bracket. None of the phone support people have been consistent in their recommendations. It is clear they are simply searching through their online resources, which don't seem to be any better than what anyone else can access, regarding troubleshooting. "Clueless" comes to mind. Both the product and SS "support" have been completely ineffective/useless. So, so, sad.

I am having the same issues right now. On my second one. Neither unit will even power on when plugged into a USB. No solution in sight.

I'm having the same issue. I have 24v going to my doorbell. The simplisafe doorbell has been on there for an hour, no lights. I got it to chime once but nothing since. Tried all of the recommended, nothing works.

Just wanted to share my experience over the last couple of weeks. Moved the system to a new house and chime was buzzing and doorbell would not boot up, so I requested a chime kit which was sent by Customer Support with no problem. I installed it yesterday and no more buzzing after reconnecting the video doorbell. Chime worked fine when pushing the button on the video doorbell. I could tell that the camera was alive (clicking and two tiny red lights top and bottom of the lense at night). So far so good, however the doorbell would still not boot up (I had waited the 20 min after connecting to power per the instructions). Called Customer Service and they suggested to wait at least 1 hour. I let it sit connected to power overnight, but still no blinking white light. I noticed during that time that ring was briefly flashing red, then solid yellow for about 3 seconds, then everything was off again, repeating in long intervals. Tried both reset buttons again, yellow light would come on for a few seconds, then everything was off again. I saw in here that some others had tried connecting to USB power, so I decided to try that. Soft reset button, no difference. Hard reset (larger) button, then the doorbell started flashing red, then yellow and eventually white, with the audible "ready for setup". I was then able to connect it to WIFI and for now everything works after reconnecting to the mount at the front door. Will monitor to see if it stays charged.
