I’m done with SimpliSafe

I’m done with SimpliSafe. I’ve been a customer since 2019. From the very beginning it has been an onslaught of being on the phone with troubleshooters one time as long as 2 1/2 hours. Every five months or so my keypads decide that they don’t want to connect to my base station. Then it becomes an exercise of taking one battery off taking one screw out and jumping up and down and rubbing on my tummy or whatever stupid antics to get it working. Ultimately they end up sending out a new base station. This is happened to me three times. I remember long sessions where I have to go around to each center rename them because they have to do a complete system restart.

today I got an alert that there was interference with my wireless. For whatever reason I don’t know. Then the keypads decided they didn’t want to connect to the base station again. I was on the phone for half an hour with one of the agents who was clearly just reading off a card. And I love how they always try to make it your fault that your system is not working. So he kept asking me where was my base station and blaming the location on why there was a problem. The base station is as close as it can be to the keypad . I told him there is nothing wrong with where the base station is that this problem always happens .

After three years when I return from my trip I’m going to look for a new security system either with a ring or a ADT or whatever but simply safe is not worth the trouble. I don’t mind a system getting glitches every now and then. What I do mind is customer service agents who can’t help you through the problem and it just literally seems like they’re throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks to make something work. You shouldn’t have to remove a battery and take out a bunch of screws and say a few Hail Marys just to get your system to work .

for the next week I’m going to have to control the system with my app. But like I said when I come back from my trip bye-bye SimpliSafe.

Hi @Tamarni  ,

So sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your system. Everything you describe does sound like it's caused by the same thing - interference. Doing a Base Station Reset or rebooting the Keypad might get rid of it temporarily, by forcing those components to find a fresh connection immediately. But because the underlying issue is environmental, deeper troubleshooting is required to resolve completely.

Interference could be caused by either dense physical objects literally getting in the way of your signal, or another signal drowning out the communication between your SimpliSafe components. I have requested a call from a senior agent, so we can troubleshoot for both.

Tamanri, I am with you! My system is going out to the trash next week. I wasted a lot of time and money trying to get everything to work. New cameras, new router, new base station and still will not work. All I wanted was my cameras to work so I could watch my dogs. Do not waste your money on a Simpli safe system! Spend a little more and buy one that actually works!
