Base Station "Unable to Check for Updates - Try Again Later" (February 2024)

We have seen reports from customers of an error message “Unable to Check for Updates - Please try again later” after attempting to use the Check for Updates feature on your alarm system’s Keypad Menu.


Our internal team has determined that the cause may be a recent issue with our online update service, which has since been corrected. You should no longer be seeing the warning message if you try the Check for Updates feature again.

Hi


im trying to update my SimpliSafe software via keypad but it keeps coming up “ unable to check for updates. Try again later. “ my system is connected to wi-fi with no issues. Anyone else getting the same issue ?

Seeing the same message on my keypads. The app has been prompting to update the firmware, however, it fails at the end of the 1-2 minutes. I just powered down and pulled the batteries from the base station in the hopes a reset would fix it, but still getting the same results.

I am having the same issue! I called and I was told they are having a system update.

Same here.... Plus, I got a software update notification on my app and, the update fails every time.

@Just_Another_End_User​ this particular post refers to a service-side issue that was already resolved a couple of weeks ago. So there might be something else going on with your system.

The first thing that I would check is to make sure that your Base Station is connected to WiFi, as that connection is required for updates to function. You can do so from your Keypad by navigating to: Menu > System Settings > WiFi.

If updates through your phone are not working, we'd also suggest using your Keypad for that instead. You can find updates by pressing the side of the screen when you see the Gear icon. Or you can navigate to: Menu > System Settings > Check for Updates.
