Upgrading to new system
Hi, I'm upgrading from the original SS to the new system. I understand that i would return the old version device for any new version device i purchase to get the discount but I have a couple questions. I have 2 keychain remotes from the old system- if i return 1 of them, will the other one work with the new system? Just wondering if i need to get a new keychain for the new system. I also have a couple extra entry sensors that i dont need to replace, but also want to get an extra panic button with the new system, can any of those components be swapped, or do they have to be like for like? I.e. can i get the discount off 1 extra panic button in exchange for 2 extra sensors? Thank you

You DO need wifi for the system to receive firmware updates.
Also, you DO need wifi for Google Home I'm mostly pretty sure so to integrate the 2, yes you need wifi. :)

On the phone we put together an 'Upgrade System' order that matches one's previous model system device for device(like for like). Any extra items do Not get the 40% off but are normal full price. Cameras are the same model anyway so they don't need to be in it. [All devices (except cameras) are NOT INTER-COMPATIBLE; I can imagine the confusion there would be if they were.]
The order is purchased and in the same internal order page we make a return shipping label to be used to return the previous model system, After the new one is received of course. We send a link of the return label in an email (I make sure you have received it and can see the label itself) the link expires in a few days, yes print it asap. We can also remake the shipping label email and even a new return shipping label. For KeyChain remotes we do have "KeyFob"s for the new model system(they're convenient, but not essential like the old KeyChain).
BUT WHY Upgrade if the system works like it should? Unless the new model has a feature(s) you don't want to do without or some sensors stopped working completely(low batteries should be replaced) or anything you think is a significant enough difference for you.
I will explain some of the system differences in a separate comment.

Longer range between sensors and Base Station(about 800 feet straight line of sight in perfect conditions, about twice as far as the SS2).
The new KeyPad screen and buttons light-up automatically and you can name sensors and adjust when they are deactivated/active...actually everything the old USB KeyChain Remote was for you can just do directly on the new Keypad now and More. There is an "Instant trigger" function for each sensor.
SS3 Base Stations each have Verizon CAT-M1 cellular modules already installed, it's what gets them to connect to your SimpliSafe account without needing Wi-Fi.
*CALLING ALL SS2 users; call SimpliSafe Support and get the Verizon CAT-M1 module sent to you. There are important reasons to get it in your SS2 Base Stations. There is no cost except several minutes on the phone and then physically installing it in your Base Station.*
The SimpliSafe SmartLock (Deadbolt controlling motor) is only compatible with the SS3 model Base Station. August Locks are compatible with both SS2 and SS3.
