Return label : weight is not sufficient

I need to return  part of my order and the total weight of the items comes to 9LB. Customer service team created a 3LB return label and USPS declined to accept the return package sighting that weight doesn't match the package.
I called the customer service again and she said I can print the label 3 times and it will be equivalent to 9LB. ie taking 3 copies of 3LB label makes me eligible to ship 9LB via USPS. Can someone pls help me understand how this really works as I am with the understanding that an USPS label can be used only once.

Hi @keeponscribing,

I'm afraid you were given incorrect information. You're right, you cannot put multiple shipping labels on one USPS package. I'd give our Support team a call to get an updated return label.

Thank you for the response. This time the support team generated two return labels, each with 3lb, and they said that's the max number of return labels they can generate for an order. Is it true ?

Now the return item needs to be split into 3 packages, as the total return weight is 9lb,  and I need to sent one set with my own expense and get it reimbursed from Simplisafe. I just don't understand why don't you guys create a return label for the correct weight and keep customers out from all these logistics hassles.

@keeponscribing,

I'm so sorry to hear this! No, they should be able to still create a single return label that covers the entire weight of your package. I've sent this case to our Support team, a Senior Specialist will reach out to you soon to create this single return label for you.
