40% coupon offer

Does anyone understand what is the value is of trading in my original Simplsafe for the upgrade. It appears to be significant money and little increased value. I really can't see what your getting for the money and hassle.

@rmcquad1, I would set the cost aspect aside and look at the advantages or SS3 over SS2. Google the question and you will see some good threads on the difference.

Range of sensors, system messages for errors/status, the superior performance of motion sensors, encryption and many other items makes it, in my opinion, a no brainer.

The value is that you get 40% off no matter how big your system is. So a customer who wants to upgrade a full system with 41 components is bound to save quite a lot more. Since the All New SimpliSafe supports up to 100 components, you can even purchase more sensors than you already have and still take advantage of the deal!

Okay, so, Johnny, I have a question:

I ordered SS3 around six months ago before any discount offer. I then gave away my old system (SS2) but have extra components - three Motion Sensors, a Glassbreak Sensor, and an extra Keychain Remote (not the master). The plan was to sell them on eBay, but I just have never gotten around to it. From your above reply, are you indicating that I may be able to send the aforementioned unused pieces back for a retroactive credit/refund since the same components (in units) were purchased with SS3?

For reference, I never received a discount email. There was an initial discussion of a retroactive discount for those who went ahead and bought the new system, but I have not heard anything of the sort since.

It is curious (and disappointing) to see the question Seven, and I had, unanswered. There were plenty of replies in numerous threads from you, Johnny throughout the day yesterday and today (thus far), but this one has remained untouched.

I understand if something cannot be declared publicly, you have my contact information and can reach out, privately. Or, you can state just that - you cannot answer the question now - that, I will certainly respect. But too often, SimpliSafe ignores inquiries without explanation.

I say the above, respectfully.

I thought in order to get the discount on an item, you had to send that item in, and any item which was not sent in, would be charged the amount discounted on the order.  Are you saying that if the replacement system is bigger than the system being replaced, then the discount is valid for the entire replacement system?  This would be handy; one of my systems has only a few components installed, and the rest of them are "lost" in storage someplace, so I thought I would not be able to take advantage of the offer.

Not that it has been offered to me...

@Shiherlis

I apologize for the delay in my response. The program for sending out the upgrade offers is looking for certain conditions to be met; namely, customers who have an active monitoring service on a SimpliSafe Original system.
If you have only one Monitoring Plan active, and it's for your All New SimpliSafe (even if you still have your SimpliSafe Original), then the program would not be sending an offer email to you.

That being said, your purchase of the All New SimpliSafe is completely separate from you already owning an Original. So while we wouldn't be able to arrange for a trade-in refund exactly, we might still be able to work out a way to make it up to you. If you like, I can arrange for a call from a Tech Manager to see what we can do for you. Or of course you can call and ask for a Tech Manager whenever you're ready!

@sevensiamesecats

Technically, the way that the upgrade process works is that you just buy whatever system configuration you want, and your unique code just takes 40% off that price. There is no system check for the exact number of sensors that you already have for your current system. The important thing is that we would like to have your Base Station, Keychain Remote and Keypad (the core components) back.

I also purchased the new system and currently have the Base Station  with Verizon card, Keychain Remote and Keypad that I no longer need from the SS2 sytem.  Is there  a need or desire for you to have them returned?  If so what would the steps be?

@Johnny, thank you very much for your response, I appreciate it.

I have not lost any sleep over paying full price for the new system, but the extra sensors/components are taking up space, and the longer I keep them in my possession, the less valuable I presume they become. I just thought if there was an option to return them directly to SimpliSafe that would be the best route to take.

I may arrange for that call to hear what my possibilities are.

There are a lot of answered questions in this thread that are extremely helpful. Thank you for making things very clear.

Johnny, thanks for your reply to 7. Likewise, I have not received an email offer yet, but meet all the stated requirements. Should I still be expecting an email, or is the process completed?

@WS729

I would advise you to give our Support team a call at 1-888-957-4675. An agent might be able to help set up an upgrade for you.

@toddhenningsen

We would want your Original system back only if you participate in the upgrade program.

Its nice for SS to have a upgrade program. Many customers would just say sorry and move on.

@Johnny M, thanks for clearing up my confusion.  That makes the offer more attractive (if I ever get it  :-)  I do qualify, having SS for several years and the interactive monitoring plan.

@Johnny M, I was looking through what I would want to order if/when I get the offer, and I note that the description of the temperature sensor still indicates that it is only a "temperature below 41 or 32" sensor.  Whereas I have seen posts on here which claim that the new SS3 temp sensor can be set to alert below or above any temp.  This makes a big difference in how many I order.  The old way only tempts me to get 3, whereas if I can use it for freezer alerts, it would be more like 8.

@WS729 , well said and thought out.  Your key statement, at least for me, "You belong to the Republican or Democratic party not because you love Democratic or Republican party ideas, but because you despise the other side. " Hopefully, you will run for office, you have my vote.

@sevensiamesecats

The newer generation Freeze Sensor can indeed be set to trigger on two separate conditions: if the temperature goes above a certain threshold, and if the temperature goes below a certain threshold.
Both settings can be set to any temperature of your choice between 0° and 127°.

Are you still offering the 40% off, moving and looking to update and expand my system?
