Wireless Video Doorbell

​My doorbell wire has a short and can't be used. The electrician quoted $600 to install a new doorbell wire. I will return the video doorbell. You should supply a wireless doorbell.​

I went to install my SimpliSafe doorbell camera only to find out that my current doorbell is wireless and there aren't any wires to connect to the new doorbell camera. Is there any way to still install and use this product? Or am I out of luck? Any help or advice is appreciated!

If you are handy, you can install a mechanical doorbell.  Or if you have an outdoor plug close by, you could power it from a wall transformer (if it is waterproof or under a porch, etc.)

I have this same issue. Unfortunately this completely changed my experience with Simplisafe as I have to now return and get a new doorbell and outdoor camera so I can have monitoring within the same company as appose to having two different companies. I wish I could return everything and move on to a different company.

So sorry about your experience! But yes, the Outdoor Camera is fully wireless and battery-powered, so it might fit your needs better.

Please make WIRELESS door bell camera available. Not everyone has existing wiring. Either wiring is too short or disconnected or some  homes just don’t have an existing wiring. This is a needed product. Please supply.

Can you make WIRELESS video door bell available now for folks who do NOT have existing wiring for a door bell? This is a product request. WIRELESS door bell is needed.

I have recently ordered and it looks like it does have a battery and works without any wire. Not sure why they are asking to setup as a wired one.

Do you have an item number for that? I have been hoping that they would make one where you don't need an existing doorbell. Customer service said they never heard of a new doorbell camera that didn't need an existing doorbell

Call the customer care and ask for it, so you can place an order. Looks like it is still in testing phase in UK and not rolled out to the public.

@mbradford278 at this time wired only, and, historically SS will not disclose any information on future product plans.
 

 

SS, old horse coming out again for a beating.  Great intro to the advantage of having community online webinars hosted by your deluxe, crack product development team.  Get a few keggers, add some subs and keep a few product managers after work for an hour or two and host an event. End of commerical, now back to your normally scheduled silence.

As a long time SimpliSafe customer, I was disappointed when I upgraded to Gen 3 that your doorbell could not replace my RING doorbell, which is wireless and can be placed anywhere. Your doorbell product, although certainly attractive and functional, is "old school" technically. Although you say it "can be placed anywhere", my house is one exception as I have no doorbell wiring, nor do I want any. Many homes who have RING products can't replace their wireless doorbell because you don't offer one. So here's the situation: Use RING product entirely wireless lineup or SimpliSafe, whose doorbell is old school hard wired?
