Multiple mobile app users - wife.

How should multiple users in home be setup? Is the idea that everyone uses the same single account, or should I create multiple user accounts for a single dwelling? How should this work with the mobile app?

@mishra0, yes you can. My wife and I are on the same account, 24.99 plan and both use the android app on our two Galaxy S7's.

As of now, there is only one account available to control (at least the SS3 system) through the SS app.  My wife and I share the same account.

ADDITION: I use the android app and my wife uses the IOS app.  No issues that we have found (yet).

@sanjay.mishra01

The previous reply is of course correct. There is no limit to how many devices can be logged on using the same login details.

Johnny,
is there a future feature to add multiple users to the account. I am really surprised a security company would not account for multiple users for an account with different levels of permissions.
Please advise

@johnmcollier, currently, officially no but an easy work around for my wife and I is just to modify the account owner name. COPS and SS have no trouble with it.

For example:

First Name                   Last Name

John & Mary                 Smith

Works well.

Possibly Johnny M will respond.

Get with the program SS. Need subaccounts and temporary pins. I have a Schlage keyless lock with more smarts than your system.

You have the ability to create a PIN for temporary use...you make one, then delete/remove it when no longer needed.

Presumably you mean something with a timed expiry or activation window that you can set it and forget it, so to speak?

Yes , You can use multiple account on the mobile phone .But you have to buy subscription of the SimpliSafe so you can use one account in multiple phone.

I think the point of additional mobile/web app logins with limited permissions to a master account is being missed here... Only allowing a single master account login forces you to share those single credentials with family/friends/guests. Now, when everyone is using the same credentials to arm/disarm the system with the mobile app, you have no way to determine exactly who was doing it.

And the "additional PINs" solution? I have a separate guest entrance, do I really want to pay for an additional wireless keypad for that space? Not to mention that, if a guest is arriving late at night, do I really want to be woken up by the base station alert while they fumble around trying to enter their own PIN during the entry delay? No, of course not. I'd much rather have them use the mobile app, with their own unique credentials, so they can discretely disable the alarm before the door is even opened.

Now let's consider other aspects of sharing single master account credentials with friends/family/guests so they can use the mobile app... If any one of their devices becomes compromised, my entire system becomes compromised. If I need to revoke access for any one of these people, then everyone is forced to reset the (single master account) password in all of their devices.

Do I really need to continue SimpliSafe? I mean, this is literally Security 101 Best Practices. I should know, I've worked in Cybersecurity for over 10 years. And the fact this 4 year old thread has not resulted in one of the most basic feature enhancements yet makes me think that SimpliSafe may not be as "progressive" as their marketing would have everyone think.

The only response I want to hear from SimpliSafe on this is the date in 2022 when this feature will become available.

Agreed. The app functionalty is REALLY lacking when compared to other systems  After 4 years in thinking that it'll never happen (or be vaporware).

Wow.... 4 years!
