I'm Receiving Notifications of a user Arming and Disarming their security

I recently changed my number and I was immediately swamped with a backlog of alerts through text from no-reply@simplisafe.com. They were old, so I just deleted them. However, now I'm being alerted of when they disarm and arm their system in real-time. It even gives the address. Nice place. Is there a way I can stop receiving these? The alerts don't give a way to do so.

Thanks

You will have to call SS to delete the notifications for your number, and that may prove to be a challenge, since the accounts seem to be keyed to the email address, not any number.  I don't know if they can search for your number.

Of course, you could go to the address listed and ask them to fix it.  That wouldn't be creepy at all :-)

Or change your number again.  Or see if there is a way for your phone to block that source of messages.

Thanks for the info. Carrier can't do anything about the notifications. Phone can't block them. Will try calling SS, and if that fails, change the number.

Update. SS could not do anything without the user's account. So the security lesson for the customers is to make sure you change the phone number the alerts are going to if you no longer have the number. Otherwise, a person who may get that number will receive messages of when you arm and disarm your security system with your address.

@remingtonlux  quick story, going back to the days of Ma Bell, just at the time of deregulation.

We moved into a new house, two very young children. Within a week we discovered that when people dialed our phone number, they thought they were getting a local bank branch.  We called Ma Bell, sorry, all looked okay on their end. Called the bank, their calls were getting through as long as they could see, so sorry so sad.

After a few minutes of thought, I advised my wife I would take all calls when home.  Hello, what are hour drive up hours? We are open until 9pm to serve you better! What is our rates? A special 15% CD is now available, with a free toaster!

The branch manager called me, asked me to stop, calling the police, their attorney etc etc. I told him instead of toasters we would have waffle makers available tomorrow, and hung up.

The phone issue was fixed the next day.

Answer: Make this someone else's problem until resolved.
