Changing between Monitoring tiers

I'm writing this for a second time because the system logged me out and deleted the first one. Apologies if I sound irritated.

I did a lot of research prior to buying SimpliSafe, and I could have sworn monitoring was billed in 30 day allotments that you could pause and resume on certain days. Am I confusing this with another service? If not, how might I go about doing that?

@pocketdrummer monitoring can be stopped and started in 30 day increments only.  Call SS to stop on May 5th, but it will still be 30 days out.  You can also call and pay in advance for one year, and get one month free.

Well, that's massively disappointing.

I don't suppose there's an easy way to change your service just through the online tools is there? I'm not really a fan of having to call to make changes. Usually when companies do that it's so they can up-sell you. I'm starting to feel like I've made a mistake by going with this system and not another.

30 days may be a bit disappointing - but better than 12 - 36 month no-cancellation contracts some other alarm companies require.

You can upgrade via the web site.  Down grading or cancelling requires a call so they have your voice on tape requesting the loss of security (thanks to lawyers and insurance companies).
