Weirdness of last few days

I reported some of this via email late last evening to the inside tech I'm working with on other issues. It just mounts instead of decreasing or normalizing.

All 5 outdoor cams fail connection check, says cams are disconnected at end if checked.

Yet all 5 detect motion, send video up and down. All open in live view, including doorbells, doorbells actually report great WiFi connections via connection checker.

I reset the base yesterday or day before, don't remember. Guess I Could blow it out again, but that seems fruitless.

All other brand cams are connected and operating normally. Home assistant is working and running iOT automations.

Odd to say the least.

I probably missed something related to SS, but it gets tiring for an old guy.

It really should as other say, just work, and a few others might say theirs does, until problems like this crop up and it doesn't.

Base WiFi did that drop thing a day or two ago. Didn't notice it reconnect. Took a couple tries, but has stayed connected for a couple days. Base blowout may or may not have helped.

I've seen similar reports here. Very strange. Not much left to troubleshoot.

All outdoor cams updated recently to 1.27, keypad 2.1.3.8, base 2.16.2,  all devices claim connected to Wi-Fi. System up to date per keypad.

It's getting old and tired, like me.

Oh, I've rebooted Wi-Fi 6 times in 2 weeks.

Getting old and stressful.

Just did another base blowout, nothing. Connection checks to outdoor cams still fail.

Removing power does 7 recordings, reinsertion of base power does 14 recordings, touching the keypad does a couple to 4 recordings.

Of course a lot fail, because the system is being asked to simultaneously record 14 times within the same minute. Didn't fix anything as suspected.

Well,πŸ€”πŸ€”, A couple outdoor cameras do connection checks., 3 don't, one that did reported  zero Dbm, first or second time ever I've seen that. Doorbells both do, in tolerance per specs, actually better than spec's.

Heat? It's in the 90s and humid πŸ₯΅, 🀷.

Oddly enough, the doorbells are responding better today somehow. 🀞 They do still lose videos on upload occasionally.

Very similar odd behavior, also a week or two ago during heat. I'll watch the doorbells and see if it can be consistent or not. Amd the outdoor cams for change, better or worse.

Still all live views open, although stranger yet, earlier today while hottest, all outdoor cams opened an average of, lets call it 8 seconds.

Tonight all open, but some took 15 to 20 seconds or more than one try when after 30 seconds I got impatient. Weird.

Have been pinging detections all day off and on as she's out and about with flowers and garden.

All other cams inside and out responding normally. As do all iot devices.

Strange πŸ€” to say the least and still be professional about it.

Well, doorbells are back to the usual shenanigans. All outdoor still flaky operation.

Still strange, all outdoor did do connection checks at least once today and then started failing again. Stange zero dbm on a couple, abnormally high on some.

I have been rotating router and sats 180 degrees for 24 hours to check for improvement or not.

They have connected to router and access points a little differently, but that varies with how I trick the system when I reboot. Which I've done 8 times probably.

I can reach two cameras safely and will attempt complete resets, when weather permits and see if anything changes. Not holding my breath at this point.

Base has been blown out at least twice.

Wifi dropped again yesterday for about 12 minutes then reconnected. At no time was WiFi actually down.

Net Analyzer reports all router and sats with low, strong Dbm as usual. -38 to -45 on both bands.

All other devices and other brand cameras, iOT fully functional.

Just for input and comparison, I am opening 3 each various model, brand x cameras simultaneously to live view in 2 or 3 seconds. One alone in 1.5 seconds to live view. The system is up and strong as usual.

All SS open live view, some fast, some not so fast. 4 seconds to 12+ seconds. Varies.

Doorbells again fairly quick,...for now. Good and fair dbm and all blue signal. Not optimally connected to best access point which I'll have to stagger on reboot to get back to an average 8 seconds live view on outdoor SS cams.

Link to this provided to tech when vacation is over😁, in case he wants some info ahead of another call. Just for whatever reason, 93 degrees and humid. πŸ₯΅

Update on the doorbells with doctored wifi antennas. Or whatever was done.

Still not there for me. I have two doorbells so probably a given that the transformer is large enough for one. Wherever it is, I'm guessing 20VA. I'd prefer 30VA and it may be, who knows. Someday, I'll look for it.

Anyhow, there is some improvement, but still on initial live view open on a "wired" doorbell, let's say, 20 percent of the time open fairly quickly. Or other 80, not open at all quickly or ever. Unofficial estimate.

Estimate 20+ percent improvement over old doorbells. Unofficially.

After initial live view opens I can pretty much open and close live view within 3 to 5 seconds. Could with the old ones too.

Let it rest, who knows.

When I can get both freshly opened to live view, I can bounce back and forth fairly consistently from one to the other live views.

One I've never seen in 15 months occured on connection checker, front doorbell, all blue bars on top, reported 1.? upload, weirdness. Ran another check right behind the first and got all blue bars, 8.?. 38 to 40 Dbm. Then 3.? upload, never close to consistent on the doorbells.

Doorbells will disconnect occasionally, but come right back with cameras page refresh or just clicking again. I push the app and devices when testing especially.

Now, outdoor cams today, hot as heck, so I think I'll disregard heat for the moment.

Best of 5 on first live view, 2 or 3 seconds, worst 16 seconds. Worst, all blue bars, 16.? upload, 63 Dbm. In tolerance but I need to trick connection point on next reboot. After tech gives up. LolπŸ˜‰

Best wake time reports, 0 Dbm, lol, all blue bars, 17.95 upload. 16 to 18 is typical with outdoor cams. Haven't ever had 0 Dbm until recently, that I recall. Accuracy unknown. Doubt it's really 0.

I know I can trick them back to an average of 8 seconds to live view, but awaiting tech to call again. Cooler weather and I'll reset the two I can reach.

Information fodder, in case someone actually reads it.πŸ€”πŸ˜

Not much else can be done with existing design, no external antennas, my house isn't changing type of construction anytime soon.

There is no adequate better closer, more centered location for the base. Hallway won't work. I can move it 12 feet to the other lamp stand and will now, for a couple days to test, but doubtful for any improvement.

Same on live view, if opened and closed, can immediately open and close live view quickly and repeatedly, let rest, back to 8 or more seconds. Can occasionally open one quickly. Hit or miss.

Personally I don't think battery feedback in app is anywhere near live or very accurate. 4 are showing 100, lots of sun, one charging. But they get detection hits every day. Typical batteries report fully charged or down 10 or 11 percent or more from detections.

Waiting patiently for that what may be the final follow-up call.

Of recent days, 3rd one I think. One way or another, a fix or not.

I don't think it can be fixed personally without some firmware revisions. Maybe not even then for solar people.

Doorbells unexplainable. They are wired.

Just the nature of the beast? Perhaps.

So call me, so one way or another I can make a final decision for down the road.

πŸ₯±πŸ˜‚ Wifi disconnect 3 times, so far. Lol Reconnected 3 times though. The only disconnected device of many.

Moved base back where it was since install. Too close to access point. Maybe.
