SS2 Keypad Battery Life

I have two SS2 systems, and seem to recall ~10 months on keypad batteries. That's right in the middle of the range SS showa here: https://support.simplisafe.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029596432-What-is-the-expected-battery-life-of-Original-SimpliSafe-sensors-

I put a piece of tape on the back and mark the date. On the system at this location last keypad battery replacement was 5/30/20, so we'll see in the coming months if ~10 months holds true again in my case.

The only other batteries I've actually had to replace so far have been in the freeze sensors. That was fairly recent, just shy of 3 years, and both within a week or two of each other.

@simplistuckon The tape system suggested by whoaru99 works fine (I did that when I had SS2) but after a year copied and pasted into Excel the sensor list (a lot of editing too as there was no download button) and put in additional columns of last battery change and next scheduled change.  Based on information from SS, I would use a conservative time to replace the batteries as their was no warning messages like those on SS3.  A bit of work to create but easy after it is. Worked great.

I don't recall getting a sms/timeline/push notification of low battery in keypad but I'm fairly confident it shows low battery message on the display. In both my systems the keypad is by the door we use 99.9% of the time so it really can't be missed - at least not in our case.

Pfft!  You guys need to up your level of OCD!  ;-)

I use a Sharpie to write both the date I bought the battery and the date it was put into service on the battery.

I also keep a spreadsheet ( LibreOffice) with sensors, install dates, battery change dates, and the like.

There were no system notifications from the keypad, but I arm/disarm with the keypad so I saw the "Replace Batteries" warning every time I used it.

I don't use the dates to manage preventative maintenance, moreso just for curiosity how long stuff lasts.

Ditto.

And through my years of SS2 ownership, I averaged 317 days between battery changes on the Keypad. Oddly (due to illuminated buttons and waking upon touch), SS3 has shown a considerably better average of 418 days.

(And I have always used the Keypads daily, multiple times per day)

@ simplistuckon You Da Man! My wife thought my spreadsheet was nuts and then I had her read your post.  I said "See! I'm not the only one!" The usual rolling of her eyes before going back tot he family room to finish her book...She was not impressed but I am.
