Multiple Base Stations

I have a Simplisafe system in our house. I'm remodeling and am going to have 4 different entryways so I will have 4 different keypads. The issue I'm having is  not being able to hear the base station from the different areas. Is there a way to amplify with a speaker to the different locations? Or do I need multiple base stations? The areas are too far apart to have it heard in a central location.

HI all,

Yes, those looking for a way to have the siren sound in a different room can use the Wireless Siren. You can find it on our catalog here.

The Wireless Siren can relay the main alarm sirens (for burglary and environmental alarms), as well as the countdown chirps and the door chime. But yes, unfortunately it's not able to relay voice prompts, nor the doorbell chime (if you have a Video Doorbell Pro).

In the meantime, if you're using the Base Station for testing sensors or other maintenance tasks, you can take the Base Station with you wherever you are. The backup batteries can last you through the testing process.

But we'll also let our engineering team know about all of your suggestions here!

@davey_d​ Are you talking about the 105dB Siren ? Will that chime when a window or door is opened?

@mikeorr85​ yes, that would be the one. It can relay the door chime, countdown timers, and of course the full siren.

Can the external sirens communicate with each other?  So if one is going of multiples will go off?

@chrisjahntz​ no, the Wireless Sirens aren't able to communicate with each other. But if the Base Station's siren is going off, then all the Wireless Sirens will activate also.

The system doesn't support multiple base stations.  There is no external speaker.  The one thing that you can do is get external sirens.  They can't talk like the base station does, but if you have the system set up to chirp when a door is opened, the siren can do that.

Some people have used a baby monitor system to get access to the base voice at remote locations in the house.

isn't it ridiculous that this needs to be the solution? People have had this trouble for years and SimpliSafe has not come up with a system for this.

This is absurd that this does not exist. A second base station is not needed, but a speaker that echos the base station is a MUST have. If the alarm is not on and your child opens the door and you're not near the base station, that's a HUGE problem. The fact that this doesn't exist is a LARGE flaw in the system.

I would like this feature as well. We can't hear the siren downstairs if it's tripped at night.

A baby monitoring system would not work for me since it would echo every voice or sound coming from the room where the base station is.

If you have SS3 I believe you can set the entry sensors to "silent" alert in the OFF mode. Then, if you have interactive monitoring you'd get a notification on your smart phone when a door is opened. Dunno about 'y'all, but mine (phone) is always pretty close at hand.

Can't the mimicking of the base station notices be done through a connect with a google home assistant or something of that nature? I agree with all of the comments above though. Two things are needed: 1) A range extender for the sensors - the water sensor and the glass break sensors (which are one level below my base station) constantly disconnect. Range extenders are a must. There needs to be a way of mimicking the base station notices and/or allowing for a second base on the same system. I'm sure all that is a lot easier said than done but absent smaller homes or apartments, the system designed the way that it is will limit many customers. I have read about ways of extending sensors involving drilling into them and adding wires or amplifying the base station with a baby monitor. That's all well and good but I didn't purchase this system so that it could be jerry-rigged and look terrible. These feature upgrades are needed.

In the meantime, subscribe to "Self Monitoring with Camera Recording" for $9.99/mos (or one of the other plans), install the SimpliSafe phone app, then configure notifications, messages, and email.  Then keep your phone handy to get more detailed notifications, messages, and emails of the same info spoken by the base station (system status, sensor tripped, etc).    

During a crime, four significant advantages to text based alerts are:

- You may not have heard or understood the ONE audible notification with siren you get from the base per intrusion even if multiple sensors have been tripped. 

- You get a running stream of notifications, messages, and emails as MULTIPLE sensors are tripped (indicating intruders' progression through a structure).

- You can choose to receive the text based alerts covertly (without sirens blaring).

- The text based information is permanent evidence that can be provided to law enforcement at a later time.

+100. Why it's still not supported now? As an engineer, I cannot understand why it's so hard to implement this simple client request 😕
